I have been in a spiritual depression for about two years because I fell away and I know I am sinning and I know that it is wrong. I came to repentance in 2022 because I was scared of dying and afraid of going to hell. I made a 180 degree turn for a year. I struggled with a sexual sin that didn’t go away and I put it in my head that I had not been truly converted and I fell away. After falling away I did evil things that I knew was wrong and felt conviction for it but did them anyways. I now feel so alone and I am sorry for my sins but I feel like God has abandoned me completely because I fell away. I don’t know what to do right now. I don’t want to live like this anymore. I am tormented and so scared all of the time. Is it too late for me? Is there a chance for me to repent again? I’ve tried and tried to go back to Jesus but I always am swept away by worldly things. Ray please pray for me.

Hey man, I can massively relate to this. I got born again in 2020 at 18, but for years and years struggled with pornography and lust. Kept doing it and hated it, and I would stay with God for a few months and fall away because I would get fed up of letting Him down with this same sin. Then after a few months, God would eventually bring me back, then I'd fall away again, and this was a constant on and off cycle since 2020 until recently, where now, by fully relying and depending on God and His strength, I've now stopped all of that filth. But that's to key man if you want to live pure, don't rely on yourself, but fight it on your knees in the sense of relying on His strength and calling on Him when ever you have temptations and even ask Him every morning to give you the strength to do it for the day ahead. God has used all of this I faced for great good but also has taught me through it dependency on Him. But God hasn't left you, that's why you feel the way you do about it. You feel depressed and sorrow over the sin and clearly hate it, that's always a big sign of not the biggest of a true convert. A hate for sin, and a love for God and righteousness. Keep your head up, don't let the devil convince you God's left as He hasn't. Nothing can separate us from the love of God as the Bible says. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Bless you man

I agree with the above commenter. Conviction of the heart of your sin is a gift and blessing of the Holy Spirit. You should repent and ask God to help you in His strength, not yours. Pray without ceasing. Like breathing...we need Him to survive. Pick up a Bible and start reading.

The nice thing is that there is no limit to God's forgiveness for those who repent. It's impossible to live without sin entirely, all we can do is try to improve. It's funny though how so many people think sin leads to happiness when it's really the opposite, for example being a glutton leads to obesity, diabetes, and miserable health. Sexual sin leads to shallow relationships, sexually transmitted diseases, out of wedlock children who struggle, unhappy marriages, and misery. There is also something known as the hedonistic paradox: the more one lives for pleasure, the less pressure they receive from those activities 😢

I will say a prayer for you. Be encouraged. Listen to what Jesus said. His disciples asked Him Lord how many times should we forgive our brother when he sins against us? Jesus said 70 times 7 but Jesus qualified it by saying when he repents. The key to forgiveness is repentance. Repentance is when you have taken your sin so seriously that you would rather die than commit that sin anymore. See God wants all of our heart. He doesn’t just want a little of our hearts. Jesus said to love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul, all your mind and all your strength. The Bible says that if anyone loves the world the love of the Father isn’t in Him. It says the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life are not of the Father but of this world. The reason you feel horrible is because you sowed to your flesh and the Bible says if you do the flesh(lust) you reap corruption, but the good news is this. The Bible says if we sin we have an advocate with the Father, the man Jesus Christ who is the righteous one. He sits at the right hand of God. The Bible says in 1 John that “if we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, but remember God knows your heart so He knows if you are saying sorry because you have worldly sorrow or if you are saying sorry because you love Him and really want to stop sinning and obey Him. God wants your whole heart. If you are saying sorry but still love your sin than you don’t have Godly sorrow you have a worldly sorrow. In other words you are saying sorry because you don’t want the consequences of hell but yet you still love your sin. God wants you to truly love Him. Don’t feel condemned though if you don’t want to go to hell. Nobody wants to go to hell. Redemption for our sins was paid for with the blood of His Son Jesus Christ so God takes sin very seriously and that’s why if we truly are sorry for that sin in our heart God will forgive you. He promises in His word. You have to confess that sin to God and then believe the promise of God that He will forgive you when you ask for forgiveness for it and you also sincerely want to stop because you love God. Why do you love God? You love God because He first loved you. Jesus died on the cross for your sin so that’s how much God loves you.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to tell people you will be born again like your friends because if he thinks about his friends they might be false converts and not even really be a good example of what a true Christian should look like. I would say God demonstrated His love toward us in this that while we sinners Christ died for us and then tell them that when we truly come to believe the gospel that Christ died for us we will realize we didn’t deserve that love from God and what God wants us to do is love Him back by keeping His commandments and then love our neighbor as ourselves. Because in one sense it doesn't really matter. You can love and obey God without knowing when He's coming. The whole purpose of Jesus was to reconcile man to God that they may live a holy life of obedience, and be pleasing to God, all while really wanting to do those things we used to hate doing, i.e. forgiveness, turning the other cheek, loving your enemies, etc. all by the power of the Holy Spirit. You can't will those things into being, only God can help you live those things out

Sin can only be what it is when the holiness of God is taken into account. The moral law is the expression of the holiness of God. There can be no such thing as sin when there is no God. Then we can live like animals who have no sense of right and wrong. Do you know what the implication of this is if we live like animals? It's frightening when you think through question.

Well we certainly don't view the word "animal" in the negative context that you have. The biological definition simply describes that an animal is any multicellular, eukaryotic life with voluntary movement, consumes organic material for energy and responds to stimuli. No part of the definition seems to be degrading nor does it devalue us as human beings.
