After watching a recent interview between Jimmy Fallon and Paris Hilton discussing their recent purchases of Bored Ape NFTs I noticed something. It really seemed like neither of them were very enthusiastic, or knew anything about the NFTs they were talking about. Digging a little deeper I figured out why. Major celebrities like Lamelo Ball, Mark Cuban, Stephen Curry, Justin Beaber, Snoop Dog, and more are running one of the biggest NFT scams ever. In short, they partially own OpenSea, one of the biggest NFT trading platforms in the world, and by continually driving hype about NFTs, they are pulling in hundreds of millions in exchange fees. For example look at the nfts jake Paul has, if it was the average person who holds them nfts they wouldn't be worth a dime. Now he owns the nfts and there selling for millions. Why anybody would even bother buying a picture of something when there's millions of copies online. The whole point of an NFT is its supposed to be 1 of a kind that can't be copied.

This a great video and very accurate. Be careful of NFTs and cryto. They lack fundamental value and are highly speculative. Secondary market buyers just pray they can sell it to someone who wants to pay more for it (aka a sucker). And as the video point out, celebs/insiders get the NFTs for cheap/free at the start.

it's all a ruse. Anytime you search for info/benefits of a specific NFT, you'll most likely be fed a bunch of jargon. Most of the time, these NFTs are a way for some team to crowdsource their funds for developing a promised project. Some NFT perks include access to their digital space and digital products for their space, but who really cares about a digital house in a digital world, especially in 5-10 years. This video explains how the rich manipulate the market by driving up the price and unloading their NFT to a poor sob who can no longer sell, and that's why it's unethical. Even if your NFT comes with an annua party on an exclusive yacht... is it worth 300k? No. Only reason ppl buy these NFTs is because the project team promises a great return from "upcoming projects". Look at most of these NFT projects that say a whole lot of nothing. Saying there is a lot of benefit to holding the NFT without actually explaining the benefits. Bunch of empty promises from many NFT projects. You can also check the recently sold/transaction history of these NFTs and will notice little activity.

@@EverythingScience If you wanted a more interesting and more accurate story look into why very, very few NFT projects (Bored Ape as an example) are actually stored on the block chain and have utility. Most NFT projects are stored at OpenSea and the owners are sold a visible copy. If OpenSea ever went down many people would be stuck holding only a smart contract verification with no image. Scary.

Instead, the free market sets its price. My concern is on the price floor. For instance, if the floor price just keeps going up, and fewer and fewer bored apes get sold, what's the use in having an asset that you can't sell. At least if there wasn't a price floor (and the free market purely set the price) it would seem to make more sense no?

Coins, cars, toys, Van Goghs, Banksys... Banksy made fun of the mayhem in price by destroying one of his pieces AT it's auction as soin as it sold, making it even more valuable, ironically. Twitter will verify if you actually own the Bored Ape anyone tries to use as a profile pic. If you take a picture of yourself with a valuable baseball card with a current newspaper for a date, it doesn't verify that you still own it if someone tries to buy it because it can be sold in minutes without a public verification (not to mention if it's a fake or not). Blockchain verifying these transactions is the game-changer. And holding an actual NFT can come with passive income and certain privileges towards additional income. This is also new to the world of collectables. For example: CyberKong holders earn "bananas" (free coins sellable or usable). People were earning $300 per day holding one earlier this year. Wowza!
