I'm wistful for how much better the interview would have been had an actual adult interviewed Ms. Lawson instead of some high school journalism major.

I have been a big fan of Nigella for years and I have to say that the light in her eyes disappeared after her divorce with Satchi......even her latest Nigella episodes do not have the same enthusiasm for food that she used to express before.....now it feels like she is trying too hard. I feel really bad for her.
@edithclemmons3616

SunnyIcedQueen you made me wonder about her second husband. Surely hope he wasn’t an ass to her. A good first and a bad second can do all kinds of bad things to a woman i think. Their hearts are never the same. Someone stole her trust if this is the case. Several people have mentioned him in their comments.

@@edithclemmons3616 He choked her in a London restaurant and she left the scene crying. He also accused her of doing various hard drugs and for neglecting thier children. I am not sure if this is true, but he also rebelled against her by never eating her food. Her second husband, which ended in divorce, was a disgusting pig. Her first husband sadly died from cancer but based on what I know, Nigella and him had a wonderful, loving relationship. This woman has been through hell, but I still think she has a passion in cooking, eating and food. This, I believe, will never be taken away from her because it is her true life calling, her true passion.

@@edithclemmons3616 She was happy with her first husband and father of her two children, but he sadly died. Her second marriage ended nastily - there are also photographs of her and him during a fight shortly before they separated; he even grabbed her by the throat. Apparently he was very jealous, and she described him as a "brilliant, but brutal man", so it sounds like quite a toxic relationship.

Good grief. This young interviewer did NOT do her homework about Ms.Lawson or she would never have asked the question of how she happened to get published, or think Nigella’s reference to Nazism/Puritanism was somehow unique. She is a graduate of Oxford! She studied foreign/ancient languages! She has had many high level jobs. I’m not criticizing the interviewer personally. The sponsors did a terrible job allowing someone so inexperienced to interview a heavy weight like Nigella. Quite frankly, I think it was an insult to the author.

I don't know how it goes in UK, but in US the dried seeds of the coriander plant are referred as coriander whereas the fresh leaves are referred to as cilantro. In India and Bangladesh both parts of the plant are used extensively but both fresh and dried are called coriander. It is a strange thing that doesn't make sense either way lol🤪

Nigella is interesting, but I can't help thinking that she may have more to say about what food symbolizes in the family, religious, and cultural aspects of human nature. Her, being Jewish, I guess would have certain opinions about what is proper to eat during the holy feast days. And why is food so important to religious and cultural identity. Is she even religious???

I almost never leave a thumbs-down, but this is a terrible interview - not due in any part to Nigella, but I cannot stand listening to the woman conducting the interview. She is reading every single question and still does not sound intelligible... "uh, uh, uh uhhh." She is speaking way too fast, and appears to be confusing herself, plus her voice is quite unpleasant. On the up side, I think Nigella picked up on it and she kind of did the interview solo. Whew...glad I got that off my back.
