I find it quite striking how his early fame, and brother it was intense, almost like the 2nd coming of Elvis, didn't go to his head and after all the teeny boppers faded away he never tried to reclaim it or chase after past glories. He's just an actor who enjoys his craft.

And Ron Howard made Shelly Long into a total dream girl. I had a huge crush on her for years, and watched the first season of Cheers because of Ron's incredible directing. The talent in that movie is insane and leaps right across the screen. And Henry is so giving, he let Michael steal every scene, but you loved him in the end for it.

I had the pleasure of meeting Henry Winkler at a comic con and he is absolutely the nicest guy imaginable. He probably met 1,000 people that day but managed to make me feel like I mattered to him (I'm not so egotistical to believe that I did, but that he would make the effort to project that is impressive).
@Formedras3 ай бұрын
I'd say that you DID matter to him, actually... but you know, so did the other 999 people he met that day. He seems like the kind of person who believes everybody is important, everybody matters, until you show him otherwise.

About being typecast in Grease, he’s totally right. What wasn’t mentioned was that he appeared in a movie called The Lords of Flatbush, about a 50’s greaser gang which was the first role to gain him notice (along with castmate Sylvester Stallone). It led directly to being cast as The Fonz. Three 50’s greaser roles in a row and he’d be finished. Also, he was 33 years old in 1978 while Travolta was 24 - just a bit closer to high school age.
