Neve's dad used to teach theatre arts in my high school. He directed a couple of shows I was in, and he used to bring Neve and her brother Christian, also an actor, with him for weekend rehearsals. They were 5 or 6 at the time and used to run around and have fun. We all enjoyed them hanging around. It kept things light. The last time I saw her was at a dinner where she was celebrating getting the role in Phantom of the Opera in Toronto. It's been nice watching her become very successful.

In the autobiography of notorious 1930's gangster Alvin "Creepy" Karpis, he mentions that after he got out of prison after 33 years and was deported to Canada, one of the people he became friends with was Gerry Campbell, father of Neve and her brother Christian, and he visited their home for dinners and played a few games with the kids. I wonder if she remembers that or if there's really any truth to that anecdote. Most of what Karpis said in his books was verified as true by FBI files, guards and staff at Alcatraz (he was the longest serving inmate there), and people who knew him personally before and after he went to prison, so it very well could be true.
