I read that Hugh Beaumont had a very rare blood type that is only shared with the Hapsburg royal family. He really was a man with great natural dignity and likability - he had a very special quality. I love Leave It To Beaver. I get very defensive when people criticize the show. It was truly funny and enjoyable, the boys said and did things that shows the way children actually think, often times. Watching the show lifts my spirits. Jerry is very much appreciated by me!

Here in NYC, Leave It To Beaver is on M-F at 8am on the WE Network. During the pandemic when stress levels were very high, I would have my breakfast watching the show and it really calmed me down. As a 68 year old (my husband is 72), it brought back memories of a simpler time; kids were respectful to parents and teachers and problems were resolved with compassion. I grew up in an urban environment; very different from Mayfield but my husband was a suburban kid, yet it was relatable. Like so many, I was very sad to learn of Tony Dow's passing. He was a wonderful actor and of course, the ideal big brother. Barbara and Hugh were insightful as parents and every show had a lesson and morality component. Thank you so much and God bless you.

This was a really great interview with the Beaver he was a total icon and was more realistic a character than Dennis the Menace. I did not know much about his career outside of the sitcom, but I do recall him in some black and white movies. I was sadden to hear about the passing of Tony Dow (Wally Cleaver), I had developed a mad crush on him during watching the reruns in the 70s. It amazing to see that these guys grew up to not be the standard drama life once the show discontinued. It seem like Tony and Jerry are genuine nice guys. RIP Mr. Dow and thanks for the memories. And my heart felt prayers for those that are grieving their loss. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the days to come.

Jerry & Tony had an enduring friendship all these years later. Tony was a natural and the best playing Beaver’s older brother. They really cared about each other. This will always be my favorite show then & now. I watch it without getting tired. Funny how it never made it in the top 25 while on air, now a beloved classic. 1950’s the westerns ruled.

I dreamed of growing into adulthood and living out a life exactly like that of the "Cleaver" family. Life can be surreal, and I do feel like that last 21 years of my life truly exemplified the "Cleaver" family experience...but I still dream of living life out like the "Cleaver" family. I think I've just convinced myself to binge the entire original series.

Yes, I grew up with 4 channels on our black and white console TV. My cousin showed me how to turn the picture upside down. One day before my father got home. I turned the picture upside down, then I thought, what if I turn the whole TV upside down so the cabinet would be upside down but the picture would be right side up. When my father came home and sat in his easy chair, he didn’t notice anything wrong. I said do you see anything wrong with the TV. He looked at it and said nope, looks fine to me. I went over and put my hand on one of the legs that were sticking up in the air. I said look closely, is there anything wrong? He still couldn’t see anything wrong. I finally had to tell him that the TV was upside down.
