When an actress spits on the original movie, doesn't understand the story, says she never watched the whole movie, finds the story "weird", etc. Why is she casted? Why did she accept the role? Why should we want to watch her in one of our beloved childhood character ? And she has such a "mean girl" vibe. I won't ever watch anything with her in this.

The funniest thing is that they only hired ONE dwarf actor to play the one of the 7 dwarfs... They had an opportunity to include the dwarf people in a role literally perfect for them but they still failed

agreed, a role literally perfect for them and its hard if you're a small person actor to try and get roles sometimes so a perfect role like this is rare to come by. the fact that they would take that from them is nothing short of evil no pun intended.

Although Disney is ultimately responsible for this, but a small correction, all 7 roles were filled, however due to Peter Dinklage's rant about them "typecasting" Dwarves, in a film, especially a film called "Snow White and the Seven DWARFS" because, apparently, he's the only Dwarf actor allowed to get roles made for Dwarves, not only made me lose all respect for the actor, but also for Disney for giving into his ridiculousness. 7 actors fired because of Peter Dinklage & Disney being woke, it's disgusting.

Rachel really needs to watch the original if she thinks is just a love story. The entire thing is about being kind. The huntsman didn't kill Snow White because he saw her showing compassion to the bird. The dwarves let her stay and ended up loving her because of her compassion towards them. The whole premise was about showing kindness, the prince was there for five minutes and his entire role was to wake her up.

You missed the whole point here. The alternative is not about the Disney animation. It is about respect for the source and execute it with love and care. Not telling some idiotic fake diversity non valuable so called “ values “. I don’t care about gays or perverted and their rights. My right is to see the normal relations and values and not a perverted reality. The world should turn back to normality. Everyone deserve a niche. Let the lgbt community have their niche and make their own movies and interpretations. Just don’t try to give us this dog shite and tell us to smile and applause. I don’t get this at all. I am sure Africans or Latinos got a versatile culture and different fairy tales. Why not trying to make those stories alive and show us the complexity and diversity of a different beautiful world? Like Chinese with their Kungfu or Indians? Why the hell making real history fake news with black Cleopatra and black Achilles? For god sake, this nonsense should end.

You’re 💯 right. Snow White is not what I think of for a love story. I think of kindness and compassion and how being jealous makes you into an ugly witch which will not pay off in the end. Love and friendship wins every time. I think of Cinderella as a love story which is what Rachel seems to be confusing with the story of Snow White.

One thing Rachel said that I can't help being bothered by is when she says the Prince stalks Snow White in the original animated film. HE DOESN'T! He sees her singing, then serenades her. Later, with the dwarves, she sings about him. How he stole her heart in that moment. And when she is in the glass coffin, seemingly dead, he did search for her, which isn't the same as stalking. When he finds her, he can't help but give her a kiss, which breaks the spell, because it was a kiss of TRUE LOVE. Has she never seen the original animated film?

And now they have reportedly cast a black man for Hercules, who is Greek. Like, wtf is wrong with Disney? I’m glad Walt is not here to see what his company has become Edit: I might have explained myself wrong. I’m aware that there are also black Greek folks. My point is that instead of sticking with the similarities of the characters of the original movies, and making high, good quality content, Disney completely changes appearance and race for the sake of inclusivity. Honestly I find it bad to white and black people: to white people cause it’s like saying that nowadays having white main characters is wrong; and bad to black people cause it’s like giving them “white roles” to take over, as if at Disney they feel bad for them and treat them as victims of society. Nobody is a victim unless you consider yourself as such. If only we stopped looking at how much melanin our skin has it would be a better world already.

I didn't realize it before but... Now that I'm older I can see that My favorite thing about the snow white story, the one thing that has resonated in my head throughout the years is the collaboration between snow white's hard work she provides to the dwarfs and the hard work on the mine they provide for her. They protected her out of compassion and she gave something back out of love and gratitude. She made sure they at least we're well feed and had a clean house, and they gave her their hearts and protection. The second thing would be "don't be naive" of course. That’s my biggest issue with it. With little mermaid it did make sense she would be black, considering the geological area the Red Sea is at (the one she’s supposed to rule and come from). But snow whites entire thing has been her being pale, pale like the snow. I would never wish for Disney to make Princess and the frog a Hispanic story, because them both being black is apart of the story and their culture. So they shouldn’t do it to other characters where their paleness, is very much apart of their story and character.

@@BackWoodsBandit59 I do think you are right in the general ethnicity idea for little mermaid until you think about where she lived all her life. In the freaking sea (Red sea average depth is apparently about 490 meters) ! where the light is absorbed really fast meaning that there aren't a lot of light going to the sea floor (no phosynthetic plant at 490 meters apparently). Skin color is a result of evolution selection, the darker the skin the more the individual is protected of the dangerous radiation (UV) but a skin too dark is also a problem in a less lighted area since light helps synthesized vitamine D (in charge in bone structure I think). Meaning that in a no light environnement it is better for your bone structure to be white skinned colour. Even if we take into account that her dad has a magic trident (and that you can suppose they have magic so magic light), we can suppose that they didn't pop up in the world with magic right away. So the first mermaid must have a light colour skin and a night vision (or else they where blind but with good sound sense). Then it would take them centuries, millenium to acquire proper magic (since need to exchange info). Or the entire mermaid specie comes from magic (like a human leggs transformed into fish) but still, there could have been tension with the human (since in all media there is this "let's go catch a mermaid" thingy) and they could have hide themselves in the depth, preventing skin colouration.

why are people so insistent on copying the same movies over and over and over again. These things you guys seem to missss soooooo much has been used in soooooo many movies, its become a cliche because its predictable. Even when they copy everything to the T- it never matches with the original. And it often can't. So why not create new things. those who wants the original, can watch the original, we don't need 1000 remakes of the exact same story line. But ey you guys enjoy the remake, that is being advertised with bullshit titles - I mean these click bait titles can't even be honest about its own content so one can guess what type of movie is going to come out of that.

I just think if you want a story where a princess isn't saved by a prince and she's a girl boss or whatever, then make one. You don't have to completely change and alter another story. It's not Snow White at that point. Make the type of princess you want, but don't completely change another one to fit the look you want. Don't use a story if you don't like it. Small changes are fine, but when you change the theme and values, it's not even the same story anymore.

@fromweirdobonawithlove1426 there is nothing in the Brothers Grimm tale about Snow White being a leader or most of what Zegler says. She's simply a kind little girl, who happens to be beautiful because her mother wished it, hiding from the queen who wants her dead because of her own vanity. Snow White is accepted & protected by the dwarves but is drawn to the beautiful wares of an old peddler woman (the queen in disguise) while the dwarves are away; the apple is the 3rd attempt & works. The dwarves can't bare to bury Snow, so they make the glass coffin. The prince comes along & can't live without her beauty, takes the coffin with him only to admire (there was no kiss, & yeah that part can be seen a little creepy but it's the same as taking a mummy out of it's tomb to admire in a museum). One of the prince's servants stumbled while carrying the coffin & the bit of poison apple dislodged itself, waking Snow White. She, being a young princess, accepted the young prince's offer of being his bride & fell in love with him. They then punish the queen by making her dance at their wedding wearing red-hot iron shoes. Most of the story is literally about the queen & her wickedness.

For crying out loud. You sound like the woke requiring a person of a given identity to voice a character of some identity. For your information being a Latina is not a racial category, but a cultural one. It's like saying that Chris Pratt cannot portray a medieval English character because he is American, and there are many Black, Asian and other types of Americans. Zegler is not noticeably darker skinned than Brett Cooper, and I hope it has not escaped your notice that she has a German surname. So the whole Latina can't play Snowhite is ridiculous. She shouldn't be Snow White because she is a jerk that made it clear she doesn't like the story, and is generally unlikeable. The racial identity politiics used to justify her miscasting is just that: identity politics on par with the extreme left.

Exactly, it’s not her as a person but it’s her character, how disrespectful and just down right ugly at time’s talking about a live version of Disney’s 1st award winning animated Snow White as if it was nothing or horrible. I never understood her horrific attitude towards the movie and how she didn’t even seem proud to be chosen to play Snow White live, it’s been bizarre and if some PR person was telling her what to say then they either disliked Rachel Zegler or wanted her and the movie to fail. The same with the Budweiser backlash, it wasn’t in large part about the one can sent to Dylan the theater actor because that was nothing to many but it was the VP of marketing ALISSIA HEINERSCHIED (apology if misspelled) and her interview and remarks about the consumer base and she had a horrible attitude about her role as VP. She spoke as if she was there for herself to be happy and how she wanted to be inclusive but then stated she only wanted to work with other’s who thought like her with her ideology. Which anyone with common sense realizes or understands that’s not inclusive and she also spoke about the brand and consumers in such a derogatory way, which anyone with some sense for business knows these ideologies shouldn’t be part of any business that wants to make any profits. Again it’s like they’re wanting to commit suicide at each company and all this talk about empathy yet they could careless about the actual purchasing public. Then the CEO goes on one of the friendly news outlets for a easy layup for him to make his statement, he says as the CEO every bad decision is his responsibility but never apologized for what was said during that horrendous interview. He talk about how he was in the military and work with the CIA before he decided to leave after 8 years to work in product management. So yes we are thankful for his and all our young peoples service and sometimes the ultimate sacrifice but that didn’t say anything about the actions he’ll take going forward. I thought no and I knew other service members especially special forces aren’t happy with someone using their service as to say don’t judge me because I served, if anything they think it’s cheap and are more respectful of a humble honest apology. So again he seem to have terrible PR advise as well or maybe they all need someone with wisdom to explain how to reach people, because these buzzword’s used by certain politicians and elites are like nails on a chalkboard to most Americans and I said many people worldwide as well. If they’ve more interested in being liked by the buzzword club members then they’re never going to make it in management for a company that needs ordinary citizens to buy their products because the two aren’t compatible. I’ve noticed people have grown to truly dislike these words intensely worldwide. You know it was using these buzzword’s and her using her look’s to target much older successful men that ELIZABETH HOLMES used in he huge billion dollar fraud.. She had already been turned down by two of the leading older and much wiser Doctor’s who have done extraordinary work and one that was a reverend Professor of Pathology and they both knew right away her theory isn’t supported by any science and the blood testing machines we use now like the (Semen) were years in the making and scientific reviews over years. So they were ice and each told her that her theory wasn’t sound and even said to her she needs to realize this is not just building a machine to test blood 🩸 with less of a sample but it’s could affect actual patients lives and both of them taking the oath expressed to her how unethical her theory sounded. So I believe she’s a psychopath/sociopath (same thing but for criminal assessments neurologist’s us psychopath. Once she was finally caught after the whistleblowers and the Wall Street Journal story ran and she was arrested. She used a page out of the female psychopath handbook twice by getting married and pregnant twice to delay her trail and then sentencing. It was proven that two patients we know of got bad data but fortunately their main Doctor’s sensed something wrong with Elizabeth Holmes concept and retesting so both patients receive care in time to save them for a worse sickness and even death in one case. She’s tried all her schemes and nobody’s buying them, so finally she behaves mr bars at a medium security prison in Texas (I believe) but of course she still fight her convictions saying her partner used her, except the more you see the evidence she use him plus she would use him to go after employee’s who became suspicious. So let’s all keep a lose eye on Elizabeth Holmes because she’s dangerous and she’ll get out quicker than she deserves and honestly how could anyone trust her with anything that affects the public in any large way. I hope she gets psychological help because she has even assessed and diagnosed but she not insane just has anti-social characteristics but they’ve not realized her official paperwork. I hope her husband along with her parents who are always helping keeps a good eye and raises these little girl’s well because she’ll get tired of mothering unless it’s something that feeds her narcissism. However if she wants to work as a homemaker and grow food that’s fine but I think even though her parents were supportive (which you expect) but I still notice her Mother is always watching over those girl’s which I think her parents will continue that until their grown and can leave for school or their own life. Sorry for going on and on and please forgive all grammatical errors because I have MS so with my side effects like bad eyesight and even cognitive problems when I’m extremely tired but that’s rare. I don’t comment much but I had a lot of thoughts regarding these issues. NO PITY. I’m grateful for the tremendous strides made regarding MS treatments and medications. Personally, I'm bothered every time they race-swap a character, mainly due to their reasons for doing it. Like in The Little Mermaid remake. They didn't cast a black actress as Ariel because of all the women who auditioned the best one for the role happened to be black; they cast a black actress as Ariel because they wanted to make a point of making sure the lead role was not a white person. Every time they race swap--including their remake of Snow White--that is their one and only reason. Rachel Zegler didn't get the role because she was deemed to be the best actress for the role, she got it because she was deemed to be the best non-white actress for the role.

As a kid growing up in the 80s/early 90s I always thought the message of the Disney movies was to follow your dreams...regardless of what your own personal dream was. For Snow White that was love, for Ariel that was to explore the world outside her own, for Mulan that was to be a hero. Everyone regardless of gender has their own unique dreams and old Disney tales encouraged you to go for them. The older films also showed that sometimes the path towards your dream is hard and full of challenges, but that dreams can come true. Disney used to be about hope, love, friendship, and perseverance through what sometimes felt like overwhelming odds. Sadly they've really strayed from that messaging in the laat 20 years, with the exception of a few rare gems.

Idk about mulan she didn't dream to be a hero she just wanted to save her dad she never wanted to go she did what she had to for her family, and she felt like she didn't fit in in her place and realized she was ok the way she was different than most women. More than anything mulan was about responsibility and honoring your family if anything in spite of your dreams 😂. Part of the reason a lot of movies suck now is because the heros are all terrible and they only care about themselves, they're more like villains who just happen to do good things. Our culture needs to go back to responsibility and caring about others not just what we want, if it did most of these shows wouldn't be filled with garbage that only makes the creators happy with messages.

Honestly, I think there's nothing wrong with diversifying fairytales, but I think there's a right way to do it. I remember seeing a post somewhere about culture bending fairytales. Like, a Japanese Snow White with her notable features, a Mexican Cinderella with Mexican glass slippers, an Arabia Red Riding Hood with a red hijab, Greek Beauty and the Beast as one of those iconic creatures of myth. (Maybe some of you out there have seen what I'm talking about?) The stories themselves wouldn't change, or if they did, it would be to inform the cultural shift. Designing a character by taking a notable feature about them and thinking "What can I do with this? How do I change this to bring something new to the table?" Not just picking something to change that hardly makes sense with the context of the story and thinking "Yeah, I'm being diverse."

honestly, I do think its better to just create new stories with characters from diverse backgrounds like the princess and the frog. It just feels weird to change an original story (as long as it is not being offensive/racist). Like would it not be weird if we take a fairytale from China and make it into real-world animation using white people and their culture instead? Besides, these stories usually contain a pure concept/moral in an ideal/fantasy world and viewers find that they embody hopes and dreams. So, while it is definitely cool to learn about other cultures, I would think it would be weird to change the original storyline edit: let every diversity have their own movie to relate to (Hercules, Aladdin, Mulan, Princess and the Frog), why are they changing the storyline and casting characters of different ethnicity to begin with -_-

I think I know that post you're talking about, and it was really cool! It would've been such an interesting take to have like Japanese Snow White with the Yuki-Onna legend for example. I've also seen interesting other takes, of Snow White as a black woman but with snow white hair and light eyes that made her look almost like a moon goddess (bonus theme of mirrors and moons). They could've hired people with dwarfism for the seven dwarves for more diversity rep too, instead of those creepy CG versions or removing the dwarves entirely. There are so many ways they could go about this, but they're refusing to be creative and instead just choosing to be lazy while berating the original art form. Even if the original was really "problematic" (which I don't think it was) it still paved the way for animation and art in a way so special in art and film history and is beloved by the masses, which I think deserves at least basic respect from the people adapting it.

Been watching Brett Cooper since the first day she started her channel. She is a extremely intelligent woman with a lot of potential to basically become anything she wants. I am not even gonna lie i am jelous of her BF, it's rare to find a woman like that these days.

I want to see an authentic movie about Little Red Riding Hood by Grimm's. Or Red Cap, as it was also called. Originally, the story was folklore about werewolves. It's evolved over the years. Grimm's is my favorite.

I loved Snow White when I was a young boy. I HATE what Disney has been doing the last at least 30 years. It's so refreshing to see a company make a live action version of Snow White true to the source material.

*I can't, for the life of me, figure out why Rachel Zegler is upset. She mentioned that she can't stand the original 'Snow White.' She said the prince was a stalker, and she has expressed that love stories are old-fashioned, etc. So, why is she so upset over Cooper's 'Snow White' sticking to the original script that Zegler thinks is 'weird'?*

Why has everyone forgotten the true theme of Snow White? It was beauty. How inner beauty is what matters the most. That you don't need to be wealthy and vain to be beautiful. As long as you were kind, hard working, and compassionate, you were truly beautiful. The entire movie was spent about how kind and loving and caring she was with the darwfs. How she went from being a lonely princess to being the happiest girl in the world in a cottage in the forest. That was the story of Snow White. She didn't need to be a badass because that wasn't the message her character was supposed to tell. Do I think the romance could have been more developed? Yes. But we have to remember that the movie is short. It was revolutionary for the time, and had they had today's tech, theres no doubt in my mind they would have fleshed it out. But they had a choice because of what they had. They sacrificed the love story to tell a more important one.

I will not be disappointed by Disney's snow white as I have zero expectations for it but neither will I go see it. In contrast I am terrified and excited for Brett's snow white, the trailer looks amazing and I will 100% definitely go see it. I have such high expectations that it would be hard for anything to live up to it but I genuinely believe it has the potential to be the best movie of this decade. It does scare me though since this has the potential to determine the direction the entire movie industry takes from here.

i remember watching all the classics as a kid and being left with a "feel good" feeling after. I dont think any kid out there was ever so focused on the color of the skin of the characters or the "oppression". It was the dreamy fantasy the Walt Disney created that made us feel so connected, they should stop trying to ruin it by pushing their agendas to suit the modern age era.
