My thoughts: Celena made the blood moon ball as a chance to use her love powers. But, even after she died, the ball became tradition. When Marco was picked he got the cheek marks but didn’t know it yet (everybody who was under the curse got them unknowingly) but when he touched the wand they finally showed. Celena and Marco aren’t connected, he is just the only one to have seen the effects of the love curse.

In all honesty, years before I even heard of these "Marco Being A Mewman" theories, I truly thought that the endgame for Marco's character arc would be him becoming a monster, and a powerful one at that. And I always believed this because of the Monster Arm from Season 1 in addition to all of the little details spread throughout the show. I honestly imagined a scenario where the Monster Arm comes back and tries to influence Marco, but it ends up being destroyed or getting cut off causing it to change into something else. With the Arm's influence purged from his system, Marco's true monstrous nature and power would then emerge. I always saw the Monster Arm as the catalyst for bringing out Marco's inner monster, but these Mewman theories make way more sense, and I kind of want to see at least one be proven correct.

Honestly, I’d rather believe that Marco isn’t related to the Butterflies, but has a connection with Celena specifically, or is the key to some cosmic secrets. They have stuff in common; Right hand holding the wand, right monster arm. Same cheek marks, love curses (love potions and blood moons), her crown has a red gem in the middle like Marco’s wand, and one of her favorite things are a red Solanaceae... red berries. Marco wand concept art has a yin yang symbol... Celena was into tarot cards and fortune telling. Maybe she sensed there needed to be a human, a lost Mewman who then was infected with monster genes and raised on Earth, would be the counterbalance to set things right with the Butterflies and Mewni.

Yes that painting is a picture of Eclipsa's dad. I also have the book of spells and I read each chapter and it is stated in the book, that the sailor is Eclipsa's dad. Based on my own opinion, I don't think the writers could write Marco as related to Celena because of the chemistry between Star and Marco. In Blood moon ball it's said those in the blood light will be bonded for eternity, that being said if Marco and Star were somewhat related they would have incest romance and I don't think the writers wants their younger audience to learn about incest and Disney channel wouldn't allow it, But be reminded this is my opinion on the matter I am not meaning to be rude or to tell you what to believe. We just aren't presented with enough evidence yet to make this threoy true.

In the latest episode of star (2nd to last) it focuses on celena when star goes to the grandma room. For some reason, it chose to give Celena specific camera time, as well as have her stand out from the rest of the queens. That’s why I think she would be important

A secret could be that she had another child that was sent away to another dimension....like Earth perhaps and that he’s a distant cousin of Eclispa. That’s one way of making Star a Butterfly again. we only have one instant of a sibling and that’s the boy Queen and his sister, so maybe Selena had twins one eventually resulting in Marco. It would explain how Marcos mom showed up in Mewni in full armor knowing what to do. It’s also possible because of the already present time travel and that dimensions have different flows of time that Marco was literally the baby and that he mom was a royal guard task with protecting him.

I have a theory that is highly unlikely... what if Toffee is a time traveler, I though of this because Toffee always seemed to be one step ahead, what if he knew what was all going to happen. Also didn't it seem like Toffee was totally half-assing all of his fights( for me it seemed like he could do more). Also it would make sense because what if there was this foe that Star couldn't beat so she sent him back to speed up her past self with her training. One has to consider that in the original script, Marco was supposed to be the antagonist, Star's nemesis. If they make him into the villain or make Star go rogue, I think it would definitely be the better course. They would have to execute it well, but I wouldn't rule this possibility out. Making the two lovers clash (not like Frozen, but people who actually love each other) would definitely be interesting for a Disney series. But yeah, it seems like Marco is connected to the royal line, and what Celena is secretive of, could be the fact that she had sex with someone from Earth and had a child, which is why she is also trying to avoid the other would be lovers, because she already "gaver her heart" to someone else who was not a noble AND was from another world.

My theory. Star is a fake butterfly, because the line ended and the real butterfly ancestory started becoming anonymous after Celena. But The Royal Commission needed the Butterfly family tree because it’s the most powerful family tree in all of the royals, so they got a fake one starting with Solaria (I think, in the show it shows Solaria after Celena). All of the secrets that she was told made it hard for her to keep them, so she blocked off the world from her (in her image you can see it). She became isolated and 🆂🅷🆈. The ancestors had all daughters (the real butterfly family) until Marco. His ancestor is Celena. When the last ancestor had Marco and realized she had a son, she had no choice but to send him to Earth and hopefully silently carry on the butterfly DNA without him knowing. The Butterfly ancestory anonymous on Mewni ended after Marco and was hopefully going to continue on Earth and return to Mewni after the secret was revealed. Marco was a foster child and got adopted by his parents. He never knew. When he met Star (part of the fake Butterfly family, but she didn’t know that. And Marco was the real butterfly family), they became attached. The blood moon ball brought them together. Marco had unexplainable power in him. When he danced with Star, they clicked. She was part of the real butterfly family after she met Marco because she of all girls was chosen because she was so special to Marco. Marco revealed that he was Celena‘s heir when his cheek marks showed, but Star didn’t realize it. She became a real Butterfly after she and Marco danced at the blood moon ball. Marco was confused and he never knew that he was linked to Celena. So the real Butterfly history was leaked, and the fake Butterfly family had their power still, but just lived as a normal Mewman family. Star married Marco, and that’s why she kept her power and her royalty because her and Marco loved each other and shared ancestory now. So yeah. Celena is Marco’s ancestor.

so marco's only feature is star's boyfriend? My theory is that the red moon chooses Marco as its avatar: I know at least 2 movies as examples where the moon has its own consciousness and chooses an avatar, so celena and marco may have been chosen for many of its qualities, for example marco is pretty much all good with the young girls in the series can be said to have agreed. his origin or DNA is perfectly suited to some kind of demon tradition. I remind you that the red moon wasn't cursing a random couple, it was tying a suitable pair and reminding that bond when needed (like season 2, episode 14). In fact, Tom worked so hard to get Red Moon to tie Star with him.

I just thought that the cheek marks on Marco were because of him being exposed to magic like when Glossaryck gave the wand to the settlers also There’s the scene with star and meteora were there fighting and star attempts to give her her magic saying to meteor that if she wants her power she can take it before returning to her non butterfly form making me think that it can be transferred from one person to another and that when holding the wand he gained some magical abilities when using the all seeing eye spell and trying to see star while she’s in the realm of magic that for some reason has a well to earth even though it was stated by star in episode one that her mum and dad said there’s no magic on earth just my personal thoughts on it I still have many questions about the show

Check out Waxinne Butterfly, sister of febe the red one. Waxinne Butterfly also have the same cheek marks like marco and this time her hair color matched with marco's hair color too. Febe the red one I think is related on blood moon.. you know the blood moon ball; then Marco's cheek mark... So... I think that Marco is related to Febe and Waxinne, in my opinion only..
