Is it just me who thinks this is a scam? No way it has performance this good. Think about it the Piaggio Avanti which is very aerodynamic and has a pusher propeller configuration doesn't get this kind of performance, and they are at it for 40 years, wouldn't you imagine they would have at least made drastic improvement's if that was possible by now? Or the predator drone which would have great benefits if it could have this range, get's only about the same s most other pusher propeller air planes! The only way this can get that kind of performance and range is if it's a pretty much an empty shell with lots of fuel flying in very good conditions !

I don't buy it either. BS is nothing but chewed up grass. It might be more fuel efficient than similar aircraft of the same size. But it is likely to be 5 or 10 percent better, not 2, 3 or 5 times more efficient. We live in a world today where lying is more common than the truth.

Just think if you had a two passenger version and still used the same engine or smaller engine that was a turbo charged kubota diesel engine or a three stage turbine that mixes exhaust to heat air coming into the engine to warm up air before going into the combustion chamber.

It's all about the laminar flow, layers of air gliding over each other to dramatically reduce drag. I wonder how susceptible to weather that effect is.

It's a common theme with startups to shamelessly oversell their projects. How can you come up with amazing efficiency numbers? You compare a fully loaded Celera airplane on trip that suits it and divide fuel consumption by number of passengers. Compare this with the thirstiest SUV on the market that only transports the driver on a mountainous route with lots of bends, then add some stop-and-go. There's nothing revolutionary about the Celera's design so I'm sceptical about the claims until production models can actually be tested.

Seeing the broad enthusiasm, acceptance and total lack of cynicism over this "just around the corner - new technology", I'm reminded that frequently those who know the least think they know the most... Not any of this technology is truly earth-shattering or even new. It seems the principles of thermodynamics somehow work differently within this engine. And don't think a secreted addendum to Bernoulli's principles were found in his basement. I'm not saying it cannot work out, just that I don't think it will, as I've been a player in the realm of innovative development in a past life.

The engine of this aircraft is not the most powerful aircraft piston engine currently available. The Polish company WSK-PZL Kalisz offers the latest version of the Shvetsov ASh-62 (whose basic design is about 90 years old) which produces 1000 horsepower.

5000 hr commercial pilot here. There is a number of inacuracies in this video. Diesel fuel is not certified for use in aircraft. Jet fuel is the only fuel for this aircraft.

This aircraft uses a RED A03 diesel piston V12 engine. It can run on both jet fuel & biodiesel.

@@morrow100 just take my word for it, as I am a professional in aviation. Yes, the engine will will operate quite happily on biodiesel, canola oil, peanut oil or what ever. But ONLY jet fuel is allowed to be used in certified aircraft as per the regulations of CASA, FAA, EASA etc. Some operators (Airwork category only such as s ag spraying) have an instrument of approval from the regulator to use diesel.

@@Walterwaltraud Well considering I write Operations Manuals for Commercial operations (Part 135), at least in Australia there are no approvals for diesel or biodiesel. There are some approvals for their use in airwork such as ag spraying. PVT ops are a different ball game.
