I can't beat 15:50 please help me. I'm stuck at that section for a few days and i don't want to use assist mode.... I was able to beat other sections like parachuting with the jellyfish while bouncing from both sides but i can't make these 3 wavedashing jumps i just can't. I can make the 3 jumps but i don't regain my dash..... Could you explain me with details how did you do it?? Thanks in advance
@JasperLiang4 жыл бұрын
SantiNico23 14:17 offers good advice. make sure you don’t start too low to the ground, and make sure you jump late enough to allow your dash to refresh.
@6024E234 жыл бұрын
@@santinico23 If you don't consider it cheating to start a new save and using assist mode there, I'd do that. It allows you to focus on practicing the wavedash mechanic itself and not worrying about being precise with where to land with the dash. Where you land is somewhat important to get the maximum distance or to get the right height for dash reset on the next wavedash. You also can make yourself invincible or find a place with no pits so you don't fall to your death. You also practice much quicker because you don't have to wait for death restarts. A new save also won't force you to exit and restart at the most recent checkpoint. There is a celeste cheat code you can lookup. You input it at the start of a new game and it unlocks all stages so you don't have to redo the main story. A couple of long map locations you can practice in: 1. Chapter 3 beginning. Set assist mode invincible but leave dash at default so you can practice wavedash dash reset timing. 2. Chapter 2 awake section. 3. Chapter 8 beginning. I think you can set assist mode dash to 1 since the chapter 8 has no dash reset. milestones: 1. Practice consistently and quickly moving your analog stick in the ↘ ↙directions while starting from any position. If you use a gamecube controller, the octagonal gates can help. 2. Practice wavedashing in both directions. Initially you can ignore the timing so don't worry if you don't get a dash reset or don't travel far for now. Just get the thumb movement down. 3. Practice the initial jump and height from ground timing to consistently get a dash reset with as much travel distance as possible. 4. After you can consistently input a wavedash, try chaining some of them. Initially, you can "cheat" by just holding your analog stick in either↘ or ↙. However, you can't rely on this all the time since the next step requires precision landing. 5. Once you got that down, try aiming where you land after a wavedash by using analog stick to microadjust while you are in flight. This can be tricky since it requires quick analog stick movement. After doing wave dash with ↘, you have multiple options with your jump button or analog stick. You can hold jump for more height (which affects distance). With stick, you can input ←,→, or neutral to affect distance. If at any point you think you are ready, you can go back to your original save and beat that stage.

Tip for those struggling around 17:50- You need to wave-dash than do a VERY LATE corner boost to get over the spikes. The other corner boost is also late.
@roy41735 жыл бұрын
18:59 This stumped me for a bit, and I was pretty sure there's no real need to do a pixel perfect jump from the side of the wall at 19:03. The intended strat from 18:59 is to wait one second for the lower "jaw" of spikes to come back up, cling to it before it reaches its apex, and as soon as it stops, jump to transfer its momentum for a boosted jump. Double jump to clear the room. I hope this helps someone. There are quite a few speedrun strats used in this video, so if any of it stumps anyone, there's probably an easier method that's a little longer with more steps. I have to admit, there are a few things where I watched frame by frame and it really helped a lot, like the "neutral wall jump" mentioned in the description. I'm still quite a ways off from the end, but it's so far very fun and challenging.
@JasperLiang5 жыл бұрын
i tried my best to use intended strats to beat this chapter, but a lot of my speedrunning techniques just kicked in at some points, sorry :P
@roy41735 жыл бұрын
@@JasperLiang Quite fine. To be fair, there are a few speedruning techniques that are relatively easy to do and don't require pixel-perfect execution which would also simplify some of these rooms immensely. For example, in 20:30, you can cling to the left wall, and just jump-dash up and bounce off the corner to quickly get that first key instead of bouncing your way to the right and working left. Still, if I see any speedrunning tech that I don't think is within reach for normal players, I'm going to post what I did here in hopes that it helps someone who also gets stuck.

Celeste has paralleled my life so much. When I first found this game and played it I was at rock bottom. Madiline is so much like me and I soon after playing this I went to go do the north shore in-line half marathon in Duluth. I used to play hockey but was forced to quit due to health things doing that half marathon was my mountain in a way. Now it’s a yearly thing I do and have moved up to doing the full one. Fun thing I noticed to is that I do more than that half marathon, I once did one on Madiline island When I say this parallels my life that includes farewell. My grandpa died soon after it was released, it was really hard for everyone on my dad’s side of the family. That’s side is small but very tight. I felt like I had a duty to fulfill to be the support for everyone instead of worrying about myself so I didn’t have much time to focus on how I felt about the whole thing and when I did I was by myself with it. I still haven’t beaten farewell for myself yet because it’s way to stressful. Celeste has had such a giant impact on me.

just one wave dash for this room. You do have to wait a second or so so the timing is tricky here. After the wave dash, you dash up, turn towards the moving platform, but don't press grab, just jump as soon as you "touch" the platform to gain a boosted jump off the side of it (you may even be able to do this without turning towards the moving platform necessarily. Experiment with both and use whatever works most consistently for you). Once you clear the upwards spikey pillar, curl back in toward the moving platform. You can do this!

@OhLookNoNumbers5 жыл бұрын
@@roy4173 Yeah, I just beat it today. That last room was honestly one of my favorite parts. I wouldn't say it was easy, but the individual motions were all very manageable, so it never felt overwhelming. And just when it seemed like it was getting overly long, the end was within sight, giving a much needed boost of confidence. I think what happened with the moving block room was that it happened to poke one of my personal weaknesses. I'm better at reacting to things happening than I am at recreating a precise sequence of motions. Moreso if that precise sequence of motions is in itself a reaction to something I initiated, IE the block moving across the screen. It's a problem I run into in fighting games as well, where I fail to grasp even the most basic combos.

For the base game, I made it a point to beat everything legitimately without assist mode. If I used assist mode for something, I went back later and did it for real later. Having seen what I’m up against in this, I’ve swallowed my pride completely and am doing it completely with 50% speed and dash assist. Still dying obscene amounts. Maybe one day I’ll go back to it without assist mode… but I just want to at least say I did it all in some shape or form for now. I feel no shame.
