Celeste mods are genuinely up there with SMW kaizo levels as some of the best fan-made levels out there, it's awesome to see them featured on such a big stage!! Especially with a run as amazing as this, Carrie was able to show off so many of the cool skips in this speedrun. It was very much worthy of being shown off on a stage as big as this ❤ (Also trans rights!!!)

that's pause buffering! She's unpausing and pausing in a way that lets her advance gameplay by a single frame. She also held her journal key to hide the menu itself. It's allowed in speedruns of Celeste since the in-game timer doesn't stop while paused.

To be fair, this is on me! I had some technical issues loading up the game and didn't pass information to the donations team during that, so Kevin's donation (which did happen, he shared it with me afterwards) WOULD have gotten read. I don't know about the other devs if they donated, but we all know they support Celeste modding and speedrunning.

How do the one-frame steps work, when the game seemingly pauses? No shade just curious

When the devs updated the game to 1.4, they made it so that you can buffer pauses, effectively giving you the ability to frame advance if you're quick enough. While I'm pause-buffering, I'm holding my Journal button (which is my Grab button in-game), which for some reason makes the Pause menu disappear! It just Does That until you let go! So I'm basically frame-advancing while keeping the screen unobstructed by menus.

You unpause then pause again in quick enough succession to where the game advances by one frame (you can hold grab to make the pause menu go invisible)
