Completion of this project. Some final crossover tweaks and a discussion about how they have turned out. Sound clips at the end also. I do not own the music used but have used it for demonstration purposes only.

Good rant in the middle there. When you came here with my mended speakers it was very obvious that you really care how they sound and not just about their computer read outs. These speakers sound good with proper bass response.

I have 2 ditton 44 . from a friend .....12's are immaculate... 1 mid ok the other is not...., replaced both with two 6 inch fe 200's faital pro and threw away the hf2000's and replaced with fane st 5020 's using original x/ o ... All my musician ,very critical friends,. were knocked out...driving them with a crown K2. i did not realise that the 44's were only 44W.rms..bloody hell!! That is the reaction even from the ladies ,,,the guys were more descriptive.... Used various mixing desks analogue and digital ,out come is the same just delightfully, forcefully Powerful, tempted to use active crossover , as your video on those caps. frightend the life out of me.... I have 2 x dbx pa2's and an old 3 way stereo xo from BK electronics L.R. 24 dB.... And a stack of their omp amps.. If you want the original mid you can have it....its A1........ Great video.

Resistors in series will compromise the ability of the amplifier to damp the drive units don't you think? I assume you don't have to worry about cables having virtually no resistance.

Hello Sir, Wow i must say. So delightful to see a guy taking care of these gems. Im a big Ditton fan myself. Owned a pair of Ditton 15XR, but gave them to my brother. They hanging in his restaurant playing for the dining folks everyday here in Copenhagen. Now I've the 33s. Lovely pair. Mint condition. Now after watching all your videos with the 44s, im on the hunt for a pair of those. The sound you was able to get out of these old glorious boxes is just amazing. Which amp are you running then with? Thanks again, ive subscribed. Looking forward to see the restoration of those 44s you are working on from a client. Best regards from Denmark. //Nick

Thanks Nick. These 44s were lovely to listen to. They turned out better than I could have hoped for. These demo recordings were using my Cambridge Audio Azur 351r. I tend to use a Cambridge Audio CXA60. Class AB. Hope that helps. Cheers. Matt

It is known that a crossover you made yourself is perfect. I am also very proud to have such a wonderful friend. Can you tell me how much does a pair of crossovers cost? Can I order a pair you can do?

I also built a speaker myself. I then bought the audax TW 025 A0. Are you now using the same treble speaker? They are still sold new in the Netherlands.

are ditton 44 the sweet spot in the dittons?...better than the 66 or 88❓
@haycrossaudio54747 ай бұрын
@@briancampbell7712 To me yes but I like the 22 as well. 66 to imposing. Never come across a pair of 88. In all honesty you can do better with a good pair of smaller speakers which can get down to say 60Hz with detail and imaging and then use a subwoofer

Hi, I have questions. How they play something fast, rock/metal, electronic music, I every time see first on frequency response and they have very good. How it's in reality? Thanks for your help.
@haycrossaudio54742 жыл бұрын
Hi. These played metal and rock well. They didn't mind a busy track at all. Being a 3way design they have a dedicated midrange driver which is much lighter than most woofers you'd have in a 2way. That's what makes them faster if that makes sense. Whilst you then have a big woofer in a 3way it's only covering the lower frequency and not midrange. The speed of a speaker wouldn't show up in a frequency response graph. A speaker with a clean spectral decay would be faster and less stored energy. A distortion measurement would help also. If there isn't much distortion between the input signal and the speakers output then it must be fast as it's responding quickly to the input and not distorting it. Hope that helps? Cheers. Matt
@marcinlis6452 жыл бұрын
@@haycrossaudio5474 I always check the frequency response because of the bass and the range of the music. I couldn't find the rest of the charts. I am asking you because you have these speakers and you probably have experience with others. I like the sound of Celestion, I have Celestion 5 which I bought for pennies and it plays with a very nice sound. Wide sound, with good bass in a sealed cabinet. Now I'm looking for a speaker for the living room that will play with bigger sound and with good bass. Celestion 44 has nice charts, and Celestion 66 is already a beast. Yes, your answer helped me because you are a reliable source.

Ditton 44 are a great vintage speaker. If the crossovers are in good condition then your in good shape. The capacitors on the tweeter circuit are a particular weak point and can pop the tweeters if out if tolerance. Good luck. Shout if I can help
