Black Americans love her too. She was a beautiful person and is certainly celebrated amongst Black Americans too. However, I respect that Celia Cruz is a critical figure for Hispanic women of color and are happy that she is a beacon for Hispanic women of color. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm one of her loyal admirers since I was a kid. Throughout the years I have collected a vast array of vintage photos of Celia from her artistic days in Cuba from the 40's and 50's and I've also obtained 2 Celia dolls in which one is a limited edition porcelain doll and the other is a recent doll created by the Barbie/Mattel company.

I saw Celia Cruz rise from the audience as Tito Puente let her presence be known at the Henry Street Settlement Theatre, June of 1968 or possibly June 1971. I stood in the door way and watched this beautiful Black woman perform on stage with Tito Puente. I recently found out she was a teacher in Cuba, before pursuing a musical career which eventually landed her and other musicians in the United States. Celia Cruz is a legend. As a Jr. high student, I admired her and was inspired by her as well. Her talent was superior here in the US.

He could eventually be on one too. You gotta remember how long her legacy is ( since the 1940's) and her impact in Latino culture in the U.S. Eventually he'll get his dues for his impact on American music and Black American music.

@incoco2 there is much racism in the hispanic community. The white Hispanics generally don't see black or Afro Latin people as hispanic. Celia Cruz is more hispanic than them, because she actually comes from the African slaves that Cuba slave traders imported.

@incoco2 But many are white. Hispanic is not a race. They just speak Spanish and are apart of the Latin culture. But what is a race are BLACK and WHITE. We are two distinct groups of people. If you aren't black you are either mixed or white.
