Five year convert here. I battled that mortal sin that most men fight for decades. I prayed and prayed for God to take it from me. After I converted to the Holy Catholic Church, I was drawn to the Rosary. I got one and learned to pray it. I put it down many times, but I always went back to it for some reason. I can tell you now, it has completely changed me. That mortal sin is gone. Absolutely no desire for it. Long story short, chastity is possible. Pray the Rosary men. Be strong and ask God for righteousness. He will give it just as He promised. Don’t give up! Keep going! Thank you Lord Jesus and Moma Mary for all that you have done for me! I love you!!

ST.PETER AND ALL THE OTHER APOSTLES WERE THE VERY FIRST CHRISTIAN PRIESTS AND THEY WERE MARRIED. EVER SINCE THEN,,,PRIESTS WERE ALLOWED TO MARRY,,,UNTIL THE CATHOLIC CHURCH DID NOT WANT PRIESTS TO LEAVE THEIR INHERITANCE TO THEIR WIVES AND CHILDREN. IT IS ALL BUT A BIG HORRIBLE BUSINESS!!! CELIBACY SHOULD BE CHOICE,,NOT A DEMAND!!!!!!!! JUST LIKE IT IS IN THE ORTHODOX CHURCH AND OTHER RELIGIONS. NO WONDER SO MUCH EVIL ENTERED INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH HORRIBLE SEX SCANDALS. POOR CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN AND CONTINUE TO BE ABUSED BY THIS HORRIBLE MAN MADE RULE!!!!! AS FOR POPE FRANCIS,,,HE IS A VERY GOOD MAN,,,BUT SURELY NOT A REFORMER. Can celibacy enable a person to more easily reach a higher spiritual state than someone who is caught up in the the cares of a spouse and children? Is there something about overcoming (or sublimating) the powerful human desire for sex that draws one closer to God?
@pete96883 жыл бұрын
I think that what Dr. is saying is that that “ act “ Of procreation- somewhat a God-like act, should be tempered. Aristotle once said in his writing refuting the plurality of gods that there is one Essence. And that Essence wants us to be like it. St. Thomas read Aristotle. The conjugal act is beautiful, and necessary to praise Our Lord. And yes, we do near ourselves to God during the act, but it must be tempered. - spaced out.
@MissPopuri3 жыл бұрын
Paul VI wrote an encyclical about Sacred Celibacy in 1967. If you square the opening paragraphs with other teachings of the Church, you realize that the celibate state is a call of love. A married couple, man and woman, may not be ordained priests, but they are kingdom priests called to invite people into their homes. Some of the earliest churches were set up in houses of married people. They honor these houses in Rome as stational churches especially during Advent, Lent, and Easter. Celibacy is roughly defined as the state where men do not get married. We are all called to chastity which is purity in our state of life. The virgins, the married, the widows, and the penitents have various struggles to be pure in an imperfect age. It is above all a call to deeper prayer and fasting.

Being male or female is an essential part of one's personality as is visibly expressed through the body. Jesus and Mary are still male and female respectively in heaven. I understand what Paul was trying to say, but I don't think we should really get too focused on a lifetime with no companion. Though we try to be much like Jesus, we are not him. During the creation of this world God recognized that it was good for us to have mates, companions, helpers, etc, thus creating Eve for Adam, just as he made mates throughout the animal kingdom. In the next world, in our next bodies, we may have less need & desire of a partner, but that is not now. The troubles that have sprung up plaguing Catholic Priesthood certainly seem to reflect the need for us to have companions. Paul wrote a lot, but not everything he wrote should be taken as perfect or from God.

The Catholic Church is involved in many false teachings. Compulsory priestly celibacy is one of those teachings. The Church knows that requiring single priests to remain unmarried is unscriptural. Consider the following Catholic references: 1. “We do not find in the New Testament any indication of celibacy being made compulsory either upon the Apostles or those whom they ordained.”-The Catholic Encyclopedia 2. “The oldest evidence of a law on priestly celibacy is Canon 33 of the Council of Elvira [Spain], circa 300 C.E.”-Dictionnaire de Théologie Catholique 3. “Celibacy of the clergy is nowhere demanded or even supposed in the NT [New Testament].” --Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Bible 4. In the preamble to this 1967 encyclical, Pope Paul VI admitted that “the New Testament, which preserves the teaching of Christ and the Apostles . . . does not demand celibacy of sacred ministers.” 5. “Ecclesiastical celibacy is not a dogma. The Scriptures do not impose it."--Pope John XXIII Many Catholics believe Jesus encouraged priestly celibacy. But did he? Absolutely not. Jesus was born under the Law of Moses which REQUIRED priests to be MARRIED MEN! As Lev. 21: 1, 7, 13, 14 says: "Yahweh said to Moses: 'Speak to the priests descended from Aaron and say: "They will not marry a woman profaned by prostitution, or one divorced by her husband, for the priest is consecrated to his God. He will marry a woman who is still a virgin. He will not marry a woman who has been widowed or divorced or profaned by prostitution, but will marry a virgin from his own people." So, if Jesus had told unmarried priests to remain celibate, he would have been encouraging them to break the Law.
