I came to hear Celine speaking specifically Quebec French because another video, French and Quebec speakers were saying she sounds different in her country. Hi, she is speaking casual formal Quebecois. She is a huge star after all, and she has a musical ear which would allow her to tweak her accent depending on the situation. So her accent here is not so slang like you would hear two friends on a walk and also not so straight-laced as a Television news anchor. I would say it is a happy medium. Cheers from Montréal

My parents are both from Quebec. I was raised in the US. Most of my large family is still in Quebec. This accent is so normal to me, I find the accent in France different but I like it. Most of my family does not speak English. I would love to go to France one day where my ancestors came from. My DNA results were 100% France. Celine is my distant cousin. I've also heard France has different regional accents as does Quebec.

C’est du vieux Français tel que parlé par les derniers rois de France. Contrairement aux colonies françaises, obligées de suivre le système d’éducation Français, le Québec a gardé ce vieux Français et a évolué différemment (sans l’Académie Française), influencé par la classe dirigeante anglophone Britannique. L’espagnol des pays d’Amérique est très différent de celui d’Espagne. Idem entre l’Angleterre et les USA. Je ne comprends d’ailleurs toujours pas l’accent Écossais…. Ce n’est qu’avec l’accent Québécois pourtant que les gens en font tout un plat.

C'est comme l'anglais australien, différent mais tout de même du français. La grande difficulté des francophiles c'est l'affrication des consonnes: les T sont prononcés comme des Ts et les D comme des Dz. Petit sera prononcé "Petsit", Durant comme Dzurant. C'est très Québécois!

Parce que les français sont durs d'oreille. S'ils n'entendent pas les sons exactement comme ceux qu'ils ont appris dans leur tendre enfance leur cerveau déraille complètement. C'est une sorte de rigidité de l'esprit qui fait qu'il est très difficile pour eux d'apprendre une autre langue ou même de comprendre leur propre langue parlée avec un accent différent.

I think this is just how she speaks in formal interviews...probably tries to use a more standard French accent due to years of appealing to French audiences outside of Quebec. I have listened to some informal, behind the scenes recordings of her, and her accent is much stronger in those.

Although I do notice she does try to through in some english sayings/clichés (translated in french) into her french. Its still typical québécois from métis french point of view.
