Cell adaptation pathology | Hyperplasia | Hypertrophy | Atrophy | Metaplasia | Dysplasia
In this video, I explained the basic principle of cell adaptation like Hyperplasia, Hypertrophy, Atrophy, Metaplasia, Dysplasia.
In cell biology and pathophysiology, cellular adaptation refers to changes made by a cell in response to adverse or varying environmental changes. The adaptation may be physiologic (normal) or pathologic (abnormal).
Types of cell adaptation:
Atrophy: Decrease in cell size that leads to shrinkage of an organ
Hypertrophy: Increase in cell size that leads to enlargement of an organ
Hyperplasia: Increase in number of cells that leads to enlargement of an organ
Metaplasia: change in the cell type
Dysplasia: Disordered development of cell
