Very cool. Look forward to your testing. It's amazing what can now be done in a modest home shop.

Since you are designing your own plates you should consider removing the sharp corners in your fusible sections. Sharp corners allow for high E fields which in turn is a source for arcing. Not sure if battery failure modes can lead to arcing, but if so then the resulting high frequency can cause cascade failure in other electrical components.

I don’t know James, i kind of think that you are some sort of genius most of the times. 🤔

You didnt put notches in the middle for easy welding.

Because I've never required them. They're only needed if you're using a weak hobby spot welder.

I was just wondering, are you sure these are copper sheets, it sure look like brass to me. Anyway, nice machine you got there, work amazingly well. Cheers

Mix of both. I'm color blind so I might have them mixed up, but you can see the shade difference better in the pan shots. Brass has a similar conductivity to nickel, better corrosion resistance than copper so worth a try as batt strips. I'll learn which is which as soon as the fuses blow lol.

timing is crazy, just got my B4 50w laser (i beleive a non MOPA version) few days ago. Was testing it on 0.15mm nickel sheet. Had 3 hours of experementation, but results where way worse than yours. will try your settings.
