Hello everyone ! I know some of you are disappointed I didn’t go into depth into some of the controversies around kat and problematic issues of her - I do have a separate video about all of that if you’re interested. I wanted this video to be more light hearted and to cover the issues directly related to LA ink 🫶
@ashcraft555
@ashcraft555 8 ай бұрын
I totally understand that! I do wish you had referenced that in the video instead of saying KVD seems to be "living her best life." It just feels like the context is left out. I understand not going into it for this video, but at least saying she has remained controversial since and we can find out more in your other video would make the video feel more well-rounded, IMO. You did a great job with this video going into all the LAI history, so please don't take our disappointment to mean this isn't a well-done work! KVD is such a controversial figure that there's probably no way you could cover her without someone being upset or feeling that you left things out. I watched a four-hour commentary vid on her a while ago and I still felt like they were missing important events and details. There's a lot going on there!

I used to work with one of the actual managers of her shop. Pixie was not the actual manager, she was there for show. He would tell me stories from when he used to work there and she sounded like a nightmare. Let's just say she was erratic, rascist, and had major substance issues. There would be times she was scheduled to tattoo, but she would often be so trashed that someone else had to tattoo for her. Despite the client paying the premium for a tattoo with her. Needless to say he didn't even last a year before he quit.

I am pretty sure there was at least one episode in which she forgot an appointment and showed up extremely late and also hungover. She didn't seem very professional but I still enjoyed the first two seasons of the show. I loved that there were mainly women in the shop and I loved their esthetic. I stopped watching after the drama with Pixie though. That was just too much.

She admitted that. I don't remember where, but she said that stopped drinking because she knew she had issues. That one that she was so drunk, she passed out at the shop, and the cleaner found her. Also her ex husband said in an interview she was "obsessed" with being skinny and took drugs to stay small.

If Steve O says she did it, she did it, the guy would might even have lied about someone back in the crazy days, but he spent a good decade trying to be as honest as possible about all the shit he did and said, plus he was not known to be a liar in the first place, I would trust him and handwriting forensics over Kat any day of the week, all stories about the girl are wild, and I used to be a big fan but I can't really stand her anymore.

@@MsCapi if you are talking about Bam being fired from the movie, and all the drama after Bam getting sick and stuff like that, I'm on Steve O side 100%, he is the only one that had the patience to be by Bam side for that long, when everyone else is getting out of the way, eventually you gotta question if Bam isn't just a guy that create a lot of stuff out of his mind because he is in another dimension from all the dope the guy it's on, I've worked on movies and guys like him are nearly impossible to work with when they reach the state he appears to be on, I don't think Steve O is lying about anything on that case, outside of stuff that he might not mention for contractual reasons, and or for not to worsen the situation for Bam. If it's about some other stuff on the past, like I said, Steve O got a lot of crazy years, but he is shaping up and trying to do better for a long time.

Yeah he actually helped get Bam in a freaking conservatorship like the one Britney was in some friend, he's a slime ball. The channel BJ investigates has some incredible work on this betrayal of his "bestie" even interviewing Bam several times while simultaneously helping to free him from his indentured servitude.
@pedrothevenard
@pedrothevenard 8 ай бұрын
@@truthhurts2879 The guy himself told he was in a guardianship which is absurdly different than what Britney was in, he just felt sympathy for what she went through and compared himself to that, even though it's like comparing a mouse with a blue whale, both are mammals yes, but not at all the same thing, and another reason why everything he said needs to be taken with a truck load of salt, and to be honest it's most likely one of the reasons he is still alive today, there's quite a bit on the subject, by both perspectives, and I'm on the everyone else in Bams life side, instead of on the Bams side, but you can jump on the Bam was a guy on control of himself boat as much as you want, that doesn't change the fact the yes Steve O, while not perfect, was trying to help his friend, and he's trying to be a decent human and trying to right his wrongs for the last decade.

I would not agree that Kat is living her best life now. Among other controversies and drama, her husband is famous for publicly shaming his daughter for being repeatedly raped by his friends when she was a child. He blames the kid and wrote some and did interviews about how she betrayed him. So, he's a real winner. Oh, and he's got a big swastika tattoo on his neck. So yikes all the way home.

Oliver peck is a racist too and she was besties with Jeffrey star the racist sex offender for years, it all just seals the deal for me that she did write that note to Ami because look at who she surrounds herself with. The antivax stuff as well was so yikes and again points to her being far right. I definitely think she sold the mansion and had to move because she screwed herself financially with being cancelled and people boycotting her makeup until she was no longer the owner or involved. There’s the weird stuff with the makeup too having questionable shade names.

99% is definitely enough to confirm that Kat _DID_ write that note. I don't think that Ami would've written the note about himself to make it look like Kat wrote it, it would be a bit ridiculous to write such a disparaging thing about himself. I used to own her autobiography that was named after her tattoo shop, and I thought that she was cool, until I found out about the heinous stuff that she said and did and continues to do. There's one episode of LA Ink. I think it was where she blew up at one of the apprentices who just so much as dared question what she was doing. *Aubrey was not an apprentice 😂, she was a shop manager.

While I usually love your content, I am a bit disappointed that there wasn’t more elaboration on Kat’s character and the awful things she’s done/spread. Edit: Since people are insistent on having the most bad faith interpretation of my comment. I was not requesting Celle “drag” Kat. Because she was the face of L.A. Ink, her public perception would have likely impacted the audience’s support and the producers willingness to continue the show. In addition, Kat associated with people who voiced opinions that were anti-Semitic. To me, this could have given more credence and context to why people think she wrote the note. If you only took what Celle said at face value, it makes it seem like the only “evidence” was handwriting analysis which is an outdated standard at best.

I havent thought of this show since it went off the air but i genuinely do not doubt that even if kat has maybe changed in the last decade at the time this show got canceled she was a nazi sympathizer in the same way tila tequila is. Again it is fine to like this show and to enjoy watching media from any era but dont brush past that fact when you are doing a retrospective. Idk if it`s her voice or the way she talks but listening to her talk about literally anything feels so soothing that it`s weirding me out sometimes :D No anxiety-inducing yelling or ADHD cuts made in the editing. Even the video she did on the BBP felt like listening to one of those meditation CD`s. Еven the things she says have the same effect - listening her making comments or criticizing the topics in her videos makes me feel happy to hear the things she says. Sadly I can`t think of more than a very few other content creators who actually have common sense and while I often see/hear people express empathy she is again among the very few where it really feels genuine. And it`s not just empathy I`m talking about she just seems like an honest person and while most people are honest with her you can just tell right away. I mean even if someone came up with conspiracy theory where she used to be one of those toys you hang above babies /you know which ones I`m talking about - the ones that have stars spinning in a circle and play those music-box type melodies/ but her greatest dream was to become a real girl (explains her catchphrase) and one day she does it wouldn`t sound that far-fatched 👠

I used to love the Ink tattoo shows and kinda forgot about them. I'd definitely forgotten Kat's parade of suitors (Roy Orbison is a personal hero of mine, and being reminded that she dated his son was strange lol). At the danger of being labelled an armchair psychologist: Kat has an obvious fear of being alone. She has an inability to be single, which denies her the benefit of self reflection and personal growth. She lets the most awful people in because of her lack of confidence and melancholic fear of loneliness. I used to know a girl just like her; a lifetime ago. Anyhow, good luck on your silver play button! I'll add one more for you.

Hey Celle, I've been watching your very interesting and really great videos for some time now. You have put so much effort into the research, I am absolutely impressed with what you have done, I find each of your videos really good and interesting and I really want to thank you for that. I love watching your videos. Sorry for my bad English. Kind regards from the city of Dortmund, Germany.👠

A little comment regarding the expert opinion on the handwriting: They did not confirm the hate message was written by Kat, but that the signature was hers. Her explanation was that she had signed these autograph cards beforehand and that someone added the messages later. (Not saying she told the truth, but just some context)

Wow. You watched every episode! 👠 I watched this show when it was airing - but not all of it. I remember it devolving into just a lot of drama and hardly any tattooing and I was there for the tattoos and the tattoo process. I wish someone would put on another show like the excellent "Pins and Needles" or Needles and Pins? Anyway with Grace Neutral - now THAT was a tattoo show and Grace seems like such a lovely person. Thanks for this video. 🙌🏽

I loved Miami Ink and LA ink back in the day, I think I stopped watching when she started dating Jesse James, if he could do that to Sandra B, America's freaking sweetheart....did she really think she was exempt? 🙄 But also all the antisemitic stuff about KVD .. I no longer pay her any mind. And in general she is just too problematic. 👠 Love your longer videos... keep them coming! 👏

I watched it years ago and liked it. It was crazy to see just how dramatic a tattoo shop could be although staging was most likely involved. I loved her house and the blood pool. I wish my pool at my house could look like that!

I think this show was a big part of a cultural watershed moment for tattooing. Just look at the difference between the industry now, and 20 years ago. Very few women tattooing back then, and very unusual to see ordinary people walking around with heavy coverage. Not saying Kat is responsible for the changes; she was just in the right place at the right time to become a bit of a figurehead for tattooing just as it became hugely popularised. She’s a deeply flawed character, but inspired a ton of women to become tattooists, so props to her for that at least.

I remember watching LA Ink when i was like 6 with my sister and my mom. Kat may be a dumpster fire but she did help bring tattoos to a whole new audience and people who otherwise would not have. It made me fall in love with tattoos and contributed to me getting them later in life. Also her eyeliner used to be so good.

I totally get that a lot of what went down on the show was probably scripted to make for entertaining television. Even when the cameras are off, it seems like Kat von D can come across as a racist and not-so-great boss. It's honestly shocking that the show even got picked up in the first place. I mean, a handwriting test with a 99% match pretty much confirms her involvement. 👠

I never watched LA INK because the show started the year I was born, but the one episode I know is pretty interesting. It's season 1 episode 8 and she was going to tattoo My Chemical Romance's rhythm guitarist Frank Iero. Kat was 5 HOURS late and Frank literally helped around the shop to pass the time. I don't remember what her exact excuse was for being that late, but I think she said she slept in or something similar to that.

As a retired tattoo artist (Professional for over 10 years) who worked out in CA for a while, I can say that everybody gets hazed at the beginning. It has nothing to do with your sex it's just because you're fresh. Nobody should get offended if they are getting hazed in their first couple of years. There's a big difference between hazing and abuse and people should learn the difference if they want to be a Professional Tattoo Artist. You need tough skin and a good sense of humor.
