Hi, I do use drones for scales but I use them in a straight forward way: I play the drone and let the student play the scale or arpeggio along to it. It is only a matter of really listening, listening to the frequencies and the ring of the string. But I will try and upload something in the near future.

I have downloaded 'Cello Drones for Tuning and Improvisation' (Musician's Practice Partner from itunes, also available on Amazon. It sounds like a soothing chant :-)
