In middle and high school, I would practice this song in my parents living room when nobody was home and it would vibrate the house. It was my spiritual connection to God. At my eagle scout ceremony i played this piece. Thanks for sharing. I still have my cello in storage and listening to you play inspired me to go get it out and practice again. ❤️

Music has a unique and powerful way of connecting with our innermost emotions and spiritual beliefs. The cello, with its rich and resonant tones, can indeed evoke profound feelings and even physical sensations, as you described with the vibrations in the house. I'm thrilled to hear that listening to the piece has reignited your passion for the cello. Embracing the instrument again can be a wonderful journey of rediscovery and self-expression. Best wishes as you reconnect with your cello and the beautiful world of music! 🎶🎻

Dear Professor Kozlov, thank you most ardently for your always very enlightening videos. If I may, and if, only if you have time, it would be of tremendous help to hear from you the 3rd movement of this very same Vivaldi’s Sonata (Mov. III, Largo doloroso). I hope it is not too bold from me to ask. With gratitude and best regards, Siham

Hii! Your cello videos have definitely helped me a lot during my cello journey! Thank you so much!❤ I was just wondering if you could do a video on the second movement of Sonata in E minor, Op.14, No.5 (Allegro). I just started learning this piece, and I am kinda struggling with the notes. 😅 That would be a great help! Thanks again! Have a great day and take care😜

Dear Professor Koslov , I have enjoyed listening to your interpretation of this piece . I notice that you play the D quaver in bar 4 , as a natural . My edition has this note marked as a sharp . I wonder what Vivaldi's intention was ? Best wishes . Gareth Jones
@Cellopedia2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes, when it comes to music of Bach, Vivaldi and their contemporaries, it is often impossible to say for sure which edition is correct. I am definitely not qualified to make a final judgment about it.

This was really helpful and so beautiful. Is the way you are doing the trills the most typical way it's done? I'm trying to figure out if I should do more or fewer trills for my solo and ensemble performance.
@Cellopedia2 жыл бұрын
Great question. Trills or other ornaments were usually added later by performers and editors. I played it the way it was suggested in the edition, but it is perfectly fine to use more or fewer trills. For students it is usually better to follow printed edition to avoid too much scrutiny from judges :)

A question that I hope you might answer answer honestly: I began learning the cello more than five years ago. I had about one year of regular lessons with a teacher before I moved and have not afforded lessons since that first year. I'm slowly 'self guiding' my way and am on Suzuki book 5 now, but I'm afraid my technique must be suffering. What is your perspective on 'self-guided' cello study? I think in the future I will be able to afford lessons, but it may take a few years...Is it possible to learn to play the cello well this way? I am not aspiring to be a brilliant classical musician. I simply wish to have a good grasp of technique so I can play with others in improvisational settings and with my looper and microphone - to find my own music and to continue to improve as a musician.
@Cellopedia Жыл бұрын
This is the excellent question. Taking lessons with an experienced teacher is the best since that teacher will be able to give a personal feedback to you. Of course it is way more expensive than working with KZbin videos. Here you are on your own and even with a good demonstration it is still very important how you try to copy it. It is almost inevitable to make mistakes which will be hard for you to notice. I would recommend to play for your friends who might play different musical instruments. Even though they might not know much about cello technique, they might have valuable suggestions and you will get a bit of performance experience. My best wishes to you. I hope you will succeed.
