My 92 year old Dad got cellulitis in both legs back in January. He had weeks of having his legs bandaged. He developed open sores on one leg. It’s May and he still has one sore that is healing very slowly. Cellulitis is no joke.

I don’t think the general public is aware of what cellulitis is and just how DANGEROUS is it. Let alone an older, or rural or less educated population. I’m so glad you made this video. I wish everyone was aware of this. It almost killed my father at only 48yo.

Cellulitis is no joke. The first time I had it put me in the hospital and surgery for the abscess that happened. I have had it 3 times in one leg and 2 times in the other. My diabetes makes having it much worse. Good catch on your part doctor. When in doubt, check it out!

What causes this?!
@Emma-Jayne
@Emma-Jayne 2 ай бұрын
@@stuff1784 mine was broken skin. It began like a staff infection and then my leg was so swollen it looked like I had a bright red inflatable boot on knee down. It got into each layer of tissue in my ankle and caused gases to make it swell. It takes to areas that have been swollen before so it can get into them. It is awful and can be a repetitive condition. I am thankful I only had it that one time!

@@stuff1784 yeah, dreadful condition. The veins in my leg looked like a road map and then it got to my heart, that sped up but luckily I was in hospital at the time, so meds were got in quickly. It’s the heart attack from poison in the blood from said cellulitis that can kill you. All my antibiotics I had intravenously, as I recovered I recall a huge blister appear near the start site, we worried it had eaten through my skin to bone too (due to the severity of my infection) thankfully it just stayed on top and stayed a scar to remind me. I constantly still have to creme up the area as it is so dry. I just hope I never have another bout of it! Like I said.

Thankyou for highlighting this,last June I had cellulitis of the foot/ankle/leg and knee that got in through a tiny cut on my toe after i banged it. It was ignored by several medical professionals for over a day and by the time it was treated I had full blown sepsis with organs shutting down. After a week in hospital I’m still in a lot of pain nearly a year on. Cellulitis is no joke and needs early treatment!

I had cellulitis. It was early spring, I was on a hike, there was a section of the hike where I had to walk through mucky water. I was in tennis shoes (not a good idea) and my feet were dry and cracked. The muck went through my shoes, and got into the cracked skin. So grateful for antibiotics!

I had cellulitis once from a tick bite and OMG did it itch. It was bright red and hot to the touch. Antiobiotics cleared it up. I'm glad this man saw you when he did and didn't wait any longer. Your spiel about "don't take those antiobiotics that have been in the cabinet for 2 years, etc.," cracked me up. I'm sure you hear about that from patients every day! I absolutely love the way you provide information to the patients. Wish you were in my area (central Virginia). I have Type 2 diabetes and neuropathy. My PCP checks blood circulation in my feet every 6 months and it's still good and I keep a close eye on my feet for wounds, etc.

I’ve been hospitalised seven or eight times for cellulitis, once before and the rest after i had a liver transplant! It is certainly not a condition to ignore. Eight to ten days in hospital to lower my temperature, and a month to clear the redness from my leg. Don’t hesitate on cellulitis folks.

I had it. I was using some massage blades (they're dull and they felt very smooth). I have severe edema from a collection of organ failures Covid gifted me with in March 2020. The diuretics cause my kidneys to fail if overused so I was excited to be able to find a solution that didn't have me with my legs up half the day. All in one day, a couple dozen holes appeared on my lower legs. Two months later, they're healed (thank the Lord). I am already on high dose antibiotics for another issue and after the past 20 years (and astronomical increases in my out of pocket expenses), I break into hives when I see physicians so if I can clear it up myself... I first tried hydrocolloidal bandages, which honestly seemed to macerate the surrounding skin more than I liked and the I developed an allergic reaction worse than the sores themselves. It took weeks of constant benadryl and the application of loads of anti itch cream. I still have faint marks the size and shape of those things. 3 different brands. I used some other bandages that soaked up the constant clear fluid leaking from the sores. I guess it's back to the old school legs up method for the edema again.

Seeing this now is what my mom had before she passed about 2 years ago. She was often times stubborn and after getting discharged was assigned a home health aide to check on her a few times a week. She began to refuse the care, and late that July developed sepsis and passed away. This thing is no joke so please take it seriously.

Was hospitalized from this. I got it from getting a shot in my upper arm. Mine was dry and streaked and was traveling up my arm to shoulder. It is very painful. I believe the nurse did not clean my skin well before giving me the injecting. the infection started at injection site. Please go to a doctor because this serious! I waited and this why I had to be hospitalized and have IV antibotics.

I've been having cellulitis in various parts of my body now for a couple years. Any little break and I get it. I spent the night with the heating pad last night because I had bloodwork drawn and the cellulitis popped up about 4 hours later. It's still red but getting better. Doc has me washing it with antibacterial soap a couple times a day and using Triamcinolone Acctonide Cream 0.1% afterward. The heating pad also helps with the itching and pain. I've got to get antibiotics if this doesn't calm down by Thursday, we'll be there for bloodwork results so it'll be the first available time to show him my arm.

I had it late last summer. I noticed it in the midlle of the night. I'm very fair skinned and it looked like sun burn particularly as I also had blisters. I knew it wasn't because I had been wearing spf 50. I'd only been out an hour, but I had been bitten by gnats. I was lucky that the chemist/pharmacist I saw recognised it and sent me straight to my doctor. They saw me within 15 minutes and did swabs because they were concerned about septicemea. I was very lucky I didn't have septicemea. Cellulitus is serious, but can lead to life threatening situations. Don't hestiate. I am still scarred from the blisters.

I have had this things on my legs for over 2 years. No skin doctors wants to treat it. They say they don't know what it is. It start as a small spot on my right leg. Now it's progressed over time to my left leg. all of it seems to be below my knees. If I pick at it, bother and scratch it, with my finger nails, little bumps will come up filled with fluid. They will bust on their own. If I don't pick at it with my nails or anything that has touched my skin, I can use tweezers or other metal objects. It will not break out using the metal objects. So now I just leave it alone. I just run water over it. I can't use soap or anything to wash or scrub it. I just have to leave it alone. Oh and I'm allergic to every antibiotic known to man. How can anyone help me???

I’m wondering if this can be caused from DVT? The reason I ask is I have this on one leg, it’s incredibly itchy and very sore as well, wen I press on it it’s literally like a wave under the skin and the indent stays there for a while, I had a clot frm my groin to my ankle, it turned septic and I almost died from it and was in ICU for 10days, that was 2 years ago, but last 4 months I had the conditions I said above and it’s pretty much where the clot was running from just below my knee to my ankle, I’m on blood thinners still, in my 40’s and no diabetes, I also wake with swollen foot but it comes and goes, I’m in a diff state to where I was in the hospital and have mental health problems so just haven’t done anything, I watch your videos and when I saw this persons leg, it looked like mine but not as bad as mine and now it got me thinking, I realise I should prob see a doc and you can’t diagnose over a message, but I don’t want to waste anyone’s time that’s all..
