This makes so much sense. I had an ulcer on my leg. Weekly I will go for a year for wound dressing and a compression bandage every week. So after a year the wound wasn't healing and was refer to a wound specialist center. This time I given a compression sock and wound dressing was done. To mentioned I notice the yellow fluid always on the bandage or dressjng plaster over the wound. There was also no feeling when they wipe inside the wound, although I will have pain sometimes. This particular day my wound was cleaned out clean dressing was put over the wound, but as I walked out of the center back to work I felt a burning pain that was so severe. The normal 20min walk to my job became an hour. When I got home after work that night I had a fever and couldn't sleep because of the pain. The next day the ambulance took me to the emergency room. The paramedic hand me over to the doctor and told him my wound was septic and they could smell it. I was repriminded not to wait so long with infected wounds, but I tol the doctor I was at the wound center 2 days ago for wound dressing. I was given biotics and send home. The next I worse than the day before again the ambulance took me to the emergency room. Tests were done and found a high number of inflamation markers on the tests and I was admitted for a week. Red flames were on my leg and a lymph node near my groin was swollen. Only after the 3 day they diagnose cellulitis. I couldn't walk and everywhere the inflamation was like pins stabbing my leg. I was given antibiotics every 6 hours. After 18 month I'm still recovering, I still can't walk, I get by with a walking frame. Everywhere the inflamation was there is black spots like the skin is dying or dead, the doctor assure me I don't have to worry.

Thank you so much for your expertise! I wish this information was more widespread among general doctors and specialists alike. No one has known so far why I have the swelling and red rings around my legs, the BLEE! No one! I've been sent to an allergist, a nephrologist, and a liver clinic. The liver clinic never mentioned that NAFLD could cause excess lymph in my system (they might not know??) and even a PA-C in a dermatology clinic didn't know about lymphedema. That guy and my allergist both wanted me to come back and tell them when I FIGURED IT OUT. Well, now I have, thanks to this conference and all its wonderful speakers. Also, it took two weeks (not the two days they said) to heal from punch biopsies in my leg at a neurology appointment for small fiber neuropathy. It leaked and leaked. I think it's scary how few doctors actually are aware of how edema slows wound healing and how to counsel patients, or decide it's not a good idea to do things like punch biopsies.

I have chronic cellulitis leg infections and accompanying edema for years now. Venous insufficiently (inferior cuspid valves) contribute as a cause. Also, as pressure from edema fluid retention swelling increases, it shuts off circulation. For years I have been using ACE wrap compression bandages, 4 to 5 or 6 inches wide, wrapped around and around my legs, over lapping each about half, up from ankles to knees. Experience teaches you just how tight is right - too much tension cuts circulation off, too little does no good. Periodically, take the compression wraps off to let your legs "breathe", get sunshine, bathe, massage with rubbing alcohol and/or saline solution, apply moisturizer cream, etc. Recently I have also started using a "wedge" to keep my legs elevated at night - as you sleep, gravity pulls fluids out of your legs. Homemate Bed Wedge Pillow for Sleeping,Upgraded 12 Inch Foam Wedge Pillow for After Surgery Acid Reflux Snoring Gerd Heartburn,Triangle Pillow Wedge for Head, Back , Leg Support with Washable Cover a.co/d/34PP9OS Put your legs up on it, instead of your head. Exercise, walking, ankle pumps, thigh contractions, isometric, etc. helps too.

For me to drink enough water in the winter I have to warm it up, or can’t drink it. And, how come I got cellulitis on intact finger skin?

What do you think of the idea some people have that lymphedema is caused by parasites?

Try olive leaf tea. You can drink it and/or make it, let it cool and apply to the skin.

Go to a hospital with a good lymphologist! They'll probably put you in antibiotics to control infection then help with compression and the exercise you need
@lissyniña3 жыл бұрын
He mentioned antibiotics to treat infection and compression to get fluid out of the area, I will pray for you.
