Cellulitis refers to a non-necrotizing infection of the skin.
Usually, there is some sort of breach in the skin and/or it can be due to the invasive qualities of certain bacteria.
Some risk factors that increase the likelihood of infection include:
1. Diabetes
2. Immunocompromised
3. Obesity
4. Lymphedema
5. Tinea pedis
6. Saphenous vein removal
7. Mastectomy

I have cellulitis now from what doctors think was an infected spider bite on my forehead. They first treated me with Bactrim and it got worse!! Unfortunately, I got cellulitis during the Covid 19 pandemic and my doctor closed, and I couldn't find a family doctor accepting new patients. I went to 2 ER's and an urgent care over 9 days of pain and getting worse before I was diagnosed and given medication. One ER doctor sent me away while I was crying in agony and told me to just tough it out and call my family doctor for an appointment. No tests. I don't think they believed how much pain I was in. Thanks for the information. Trying to educate myself so that if anyone I knows ever displays these symptom, I can make sure they get help before it gets bad.

@@mustafaeltaher86 I hope you got help because only a few hours after I wrote that comment I was hospitalized with sepsis. If the doctors keep telling you nothing is wrong, and you know something is... Keep fighting to get help. Could have cost me my life had I just "toughened up" or waited it out like they said.

I am taking two antibiotics at the moment (Augmentin + Dalacin C) and I apply Fucidin cream as a local antibiotic at the site of infection, am also taking anti inflammatory pills to reduce the swelling and apply warm compresses every now and then, I think there's an improvement, not too much though but hopefully things clear out for you and me, wish you the best

I have it on my right lower leg now I’m Out the hospital on bactrim but 2 a day for only 5 days any other suggestions ?

Knew someone who had cellulitis and it was determined the condition may have been caused by toe nail clippers at nail salon. This was good info thanks.

I had cellulitis whilst on holiday in UK , it was all over my backside & over my waist…..was treated with double antibiotics which made me feel worse for a week but then all the skin peeled…….doctors were confused as to how I got it in that area but it was red raw & so hot 🥵

What happens when cellulitis doesn't go away? I've had reoccurring bouts with it for 8 years now. I have scars that get inflamed when my legs get too hot. When I wear shorts, it doesn't happen though.

Thanks for your quick summary. You mentioned covering for Pseudomonas in addition to staph and strep in pts with DM or who are immunocompromised, have you found any particular abx to be more helpful than others? Thanks

My mother got cellulitis at her arm.we admitted her at hospital there they gave her antibiotics. Before she was diagnosed brain metastatic doctors did Xknife at 5 fractions. It worse her condition. Then other doctor gave her tb drug assumed brain tb. She got tb drug for 3 months then it caused her hepatitis. Doctor stopped tb drug for 10 days.She had swelling in her feet and arms.Then she got cellulitis at her arm. We admitted her at hospital there she was given antibiotics. Doctor injected her lasix injection. Suddenly her heart rate went to 233.bp came down to 70/35. Then gave her heart medicine then heart rate came down. 110_98. Next day she start breathing hardly. Within 24 hours she passed away. It really hurts me. She is always in my mind l can't sleep, stop crying l am very depressed and feel regret. I think doctors made mistake by giving her heavy dose. She was really weak. The environment of hospital was not hygienic. Please tell me my mother died of cellulitis or due to the mistake of doctors?

My mother is 88. She lives in a nursing home and has congestive heart failure. She has cellulitis bad on her legs. I expect sepsis soon as she doesn’t do anything the nurses want her to do. I really feel if she gets sepsis she will die. She is in really poor health

I had cellulitis on my foot and was so painful i cried like a baby. I couldnt walk. I couldnt lower my leg. I will feel so much pressure on my foot...i had to have them elevated, I was in the hospital for 4 days.

I got on my right index finger and it came from nowhere. The skin is intact in the area. PA prescribed me cephalexin but so far no improvement

How long does it usually take to heal? I recently got it two days ago and both my legs are swollen really bad and redness from ankle to knee I got antibiotics prescribed by doctor but I feel like it’s getting more swollen and red

Are you getting better? I have cellulitis now and I'm laying here wondering when the antibiotics will bring me relief. It's been two days and doesn't seem any better. Infact, it seems worse.
