Hi Irene. I see your confusion. I try to focus more on practical tips than nuances of linguistic terminology but here goes. I'm not too sure on 'phonic', but phonemes are the smallest parts of sounds of speech, and phonetic is anything that corresponds to how it is written. More in the comments below (from the dictionary)

phonetic /fəˈnɛtɪk/ adjective relating to speech sounds. "detailed phonetic information" (of a system of writing) having a direct correspondence between symbols and sounds.
