Hi Irene. I see your confusion. I try to focus more on practical tips than nuances of linguistic terminology but here goes. I'm not too sure on 'phonic', but phonemes are the smallest parts of sounds of speech, and phonetic is anything that corresponds to how it is written. phonetic /fəˈnɛtɪk/ adjective relating to speech sounds. "detailed phonetic information" (of a system of writing) having a direct correspondence between symbols and sounds.

phoneme /ˈfəʊniːm/ noun any of the perceptually distinct units of sound in a specified language that distinguish one word from another, for example p, b, d, and t in the English words pad, pat, bad, and bat.
