I remember an Irish rock band of the '80s, called Horselips, who sang original .songs derived from Celtic mythology. In their song about the Tuatha De Danann, they used the lyric ''Sideways to the Sun'' to describe their disappearing act.

Their is a star called Deneb that is part of the star constellation of the Swan that lines up with Newgrange (Bru na Boyne) on the winter solstice and the milky way lines up and the monuments are set around the Boyne river like the stars. In Jerusalem on Christmas they have a similar story with the star of Bethlehem and the cross constellation. The Danube river is named after the same goddess Danu. She was a river goddess.

Yes and many people claim the Biblical Tribe of Dan is where we get the name. When in fact the tribe were likely named after The Goddess. The Tribe of Dan, or Phoenicians, were the masters of the sea and rivers.

Ps winning with honour and superior skill and strength meant everything to the warriors of old . A honourable concept which like I said is sadly lacking in this day and age .😁👍

You say fairness it's honour that's what it is honour amongst warriors that's why they had the same weapons so who ever one it would of been through power and skill as a warriors not because they had superior weapons and armour they why they wanted the warriors to fight with the same weapons and armour it's a forgotten concept today sadly really enjoy your films my family is from the old country I now live in England . But my mums side is Irish 🍀 blessed be 😁😁

Well, the elders of my family have long passed away now but i will tell you the story as i remember it. we were taught that in the 1700 to the late 1800 most of Ireland was called "Dillon country" the name originated from Danann after the english invaded and employed the people of Danann to create the modern english language we speak today. after a long and intense war, the Tuatha de Danann resorted to going underground in fear of death or imprisonment. after a time, they arrived in Northern Ireland and a great drought took hold and the great potato famine ensued, killing millions of people. my family retreated to all the corners of the earth, mainly England, Australia and the US. great grand parents migrated to England at the time of the industrial revolution and obtained employment on the canal barges... a tradition that still lives with in my family still to this day. as children we were taught about the benefits that all nature holds and how to use the plants around us to heal any and all medical complaints. there is a lot more to what our family taught us but its a very long story of the teachings.

So how is that proof that you're descended from the Tuatha de Danann? That's a rather generic story, with many and long gaps of time and vague points of reference. Methinks someone got facts mixed up. The Danann had "vanished" long before the English came to Ireland, so being employed by the English to created the English language is inaccurate. "The name is of Hiberno-Norman origins, and is particularly widespread in counties Meath, Roscommon and Westmeath. In Co Westmeath, the Dillons once owned so much land that it was referred to as Dillon's County. The first person to come to Ireland with the name was Sir Henry de Leon, from a small town of the same name in Britanny, France. He arrived in 1185, immediately after the Anglo-Norman invasion, to act as secretary to Prince, later King, John of England and France. Over the years, the name has become accepted as an Irish rather than a Norman name: in Irish it is Ó Duilleáin. The present representative of the Viscomtes Dillon, a title created in 1622, is Henry, 22nd Viscount of Costello-Galen and Count of France." Parts of Ireland might have been known as Dillion Country but not all of Ireland. Sounds more like your folks told you a good yarn. If your last name is Dillon, you're descendant from Normans, who were originally Vikings.

Jayandjade From what I've been led to believe regarding the great famine is we wouldn't have died in such huge numbers if, instead of exporting food to the US and the UK, that food was used to feed the native Irish people. I am loth to believe that our ancestors died because of potato blight but more as s result of greedy elites. No doubt it was devastating but greed was more the cause. Apparently there were 6m people in Ireland before the GF.

Player J Not saying your family’s stories are true or false..... But, does anyone, or did anyone in your family Have ‘Gifts’???? I ask, because I was told Stories & Taught the Old Ways by my GreatNan, Who Had the Gift Of Sight. My Mother also had The Sight & Healing. I was Told, that when I was Born, my Hateful Grandmother {aka the Bitch Battleaxe From Hell} Had Me ‘Veiled’. Which would explain the Ceremony my GreatNan performed on me {my Mom told me about it}. I’ve always had a ‘Knack’ with Animals and I’ve always known what people were Feeling.

The four cities of the Tuatha (in Scandi) & the associated Druid protector & treasures : (possible basis for Tir na nOg) Falias / Morfesa / Lia Fail Gorias / Esras / Spear of Lugh Finidas / Uiscais / Nuada's Sword of Light Muirias / Semias / Cauldron of Dagda What has always confused me about this story is that, while the Tuatha and the Fir Bolgs spoke the same language, how is it possible to call that language Irish (?) My guess is they were speaking an early form of Indo-European Celtic, which was likely additionally informed by Greek, since both peoples come from different areas in Greece. My speculation is that Irish Gaelic would have had to develop from these pro-languages, as well as others. But I am no linguist, so if anyone can clarify this issue, I would welcome the knowledge ;)
@shuheihisagi6689
@shuheihisagi6689 Жыл бұрын
Because in the story, the Tuatha and the Fir Bolgs were once the same people that were split up. Historically, who knows if any of this really happened. But its still possible that some of these Irish people's were able to learn other indo-european languages while still keeping their own.

There is much debate on the subject. Some people say ancient "Gaelic" is the missing link in Indo European language study. Other's say it's origin is more to the East. But they don't actually have a real language as an example. "Indo European" is still theoretical. We've never heard anybody speaking it. We've never found any text in it. Frisian is another interesting language, and a very close relative to English.

Makes you wonder where the scriptures really generate from, there is no such thing as a star of David, King David's symbol is a harp, also Judah's stone is the Emerald and Ireland is the Emerald Isle.

Yes I believe so. The Greeks called them Danaoi and Phoenicians. I've seen some good arguments that they were ancient Amazighs from Mauritania as well. Which would be no surprise since they're all basically the same people if you go back far enough.
