In this video, Kevin Flanagan will discuss Irish mythology focusing on the Arrival of the Tuatha de Danann, the so-called 'Gaelic gods and goddesses', in Ireland.
Were they a real group of people descended from the Biblical Noah, or did they descend from heaven? Were they magicians and necromancers or just more brilliant in natural sciences than the more primitive populations they mixed with?
Drawing from sources of Irish folklore, Irish manuscripts, and various books about Irish history, Irish fairy tales, Celtic mythology, and Irish legends, we will clear some of the mists and mysteries surrounding this enigmatic tribe, the Tuatha dé Danann.

This series is great. I've been facinated with Irish myths ever since I was playing Dark Age of Camelot in the land of Hibernia. This helps give great historical context to all the little stories scattered throughout that game.

There was a mysterious advanced culture of swordfish hunters on the northeast coast of America. Mysterious in that they show up suddenly on the archeological record. And then vanish just as abruptly 300 years later. Their tools were much more advanced than the indigenous people who later migrated into this aeea. Strangely, these dates match the times given in the annals for the Nemedians leaving and the Sidhe returning. One group of Nemedians are described simply as vanishing into the "north of the world." Maybe an intersection of myth and prehistory here.

Something that has long fascinated me about Irish mythology, is that there are no creation stories. Instead, a series of invasions, or waves of 'peopling'. Many other cultures have stories about how they came to be where they are; how they were created in-place. Not so, Ireland.

👏👏👏‼‼♥♥WOW!!! BRAVO!! I am so thankful and carry so much gratitude to have found you here on KZbin!! I have been looking for good info to research these ancient historical accounts of the ancient cultures and a timeline of traditions and beliefs. You have done such a great job presenting so much information while still presenting the good interesting details. While still keeping it to the point and allowing a busy mom like me to learn Irelands history. Sending you much prompts on teacching and presenting without throwing bias or attempting to sway the audience to your own personal beliefs!! It is so hard to learn ancient beliefs and traditions without experiencing someone attempting to throw or sway a watchers to whatever a particulars presenters beliefs are. These days so many bash the Christians or early Christian leaders (im not saying the info they bash on is wrong) and then the Christians continually bashing the pagans or trying to keep ancient prechristian history covered up. Its time consuming looking for info without needing to go through years and years of info just to come up with any well rounded overview of what may have been the traditions. So, I keep saying thank you for pexplaining all sides. My grandfather carried high amount of Irish in him but you would never know it looking at me. I still want to know about the different traditions of all my ancestors!! Like before I said I truly began learning what little bit of info is left on all of the ancient cultures and traditions in the world after becoming a true adult. However, my passion and absolute desire to learn and explore these subjects have been inside of my since i was a small child. I just didnt have the raising or the resources to learn about any of it until i was much older. You are truly a Huge Blessing and saying a small prayer of thanks as im sending you this message. Please forgive my grammar, misspellings, and rough draft of comments. I am running short of having any time to correct myself as duties call. Iam excited and looking forward to watching more of your content and using it to teach my daughter as me and her watch you. I'll also be sharing yourr channel w my friends w common interests. It's interesting all the iron mythology from Ireland. eg blacksmiths, iron wards off the fae or evil spirits, horseshoes. How the Tuatha were defeated by 'iron', and gained entry to Ireland by the Iron Mountain (there are also other places on the planet like this, eg Iron Mountain of Lhasa Tibet, and often ufo/ portal hotspots are high in iron ore etc). Ireland also has the highest rate of hemochromatosis genetics of celtic/ viking people (high iron), with at least 1/8 people affected, yet rarely diagnosed, yet makes you v sick and even kills you (most are still of the brain wash that more iron is better and makes you strong). As a medical scientist I am lately seeing so much research going on about iron, and it is being linked to neurodegen, ms, dementia, parkinsons's, cancer, diabetes. 'Anemia' is not necessarily an iron problem but an iron regulation problem, with iron being dumped in the tissues (which a blood test does not measure). Think iron think rust. We have been adding iron (filings) to the food supply since ww2. Copper actually regulates iron, yet our soils now are incredibly copper depleted over the past 100 years, largely thanks to roundup which chelates copper. Iron feeds most infections (including covid), copper is a natural anti inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, anti fungal. If your body is full of iron you become like a magnet, antenna. Why were the Tuatha defeated by 'iron'. I have heard the mythical Ireland guy say it's like we are once again in the age of the milesians (like capitalist Trump types) fighting or taking over the Tuatha again, but this time we need to win... The Irish female goddess Brigid supports blacksmiths and has as her sacred flower the dandelion, which is actually killed by iron in horticulture. Brigid is also associated with cows and the first spring time when the babies are born on the first milk, and Brigid had to live on her sacred cow's milk.. And the first milk ie lactoferrin (milk - iron) which has amazing health and immune system benefits, and chelates/ binds iron so bugs cannot grow. Iron / red is also the color of the base/ survival chakra. Iron builds up over a lifetime and you can naturally chelate iron by blood donation, lactoferrin, green tea, cabbage, IP6, turmeric, quercetin. Interesting that Bigpharma are currently urgently trying to develop non toxic iron chelation drugs..... The end of the iron age? Copper/ blue is the color of healing in the East (eg medicine buddha), and orgone and the blue pearl that advanced meditators can see, and tibetans say if you start to see a blue light when in the bardos, you are seeing the subtle mind of the human realm where you are heading back to incarnate...

Idk that is a huge stretch man, iron is just a valuable resource that was also strong so people thought of it as powerful against curses. Japanese people think of Ladybugs as holding all the bad luck in the world within the spots on their back, I don't put any scientific thought into that.

Amazing presentation as always. I wondered for a long time how the Tuatha Dé Danann came from the tribe of Dan yet they could shape shift and didn't seem very Godly etc. According to the book Reversing Hermon when a 1/3 of the fallen angels were cast down to Mount Hermon (33 Parallel) they mixed their seed with the daughters of Dan! As soon as I considered this as a possible explanation it all made perfect sense. The Folklore were thought as mythological history all stems form some kind of truth, magic is just as real today as it was then we've just been conditioned to think of them as stories with no merit. I still wonder how come the Danes were pagan mass murderers but no mention of the Danish men having any magical powers but they have supernatural mythology of their own, were the Danes trying to conquer the world many years after the Tuatha Dé Danann? I would love to hear your perspective on Hy Brasil if you have time to do a video on that? very little from anyone good on the subject and another example of things getting written completely out of Irish history and why :)

The Danes where just seafaring people (like Etc. the Phoenicians) we did just as much trade as we did raping and pillaging and we did have our own oracals and sages or wise Men and womans, who used bones or runes to cast, but who knows, People are stupid, given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything, because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they're afraid it might be true, peoples' heads are full of knowledge, facts and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true, they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool. If you follow the Holly surname it leads you to Mac Cuill, a member of the Tuatha de dannan. My mother's maiden name is Holly and just starting to do genealogy of that side of my heritage and have come to this group of people that looks like me. Stranger is my father's mother's maiden name is Ryan, which in Gaelic is O'Riain, and when you follow that line of genealogy, they would have been people who had a war with tauthe de dannan.. so my dad's family and my mom's family were killing eachother in ancient Ireland. I look so much like the woman with bright red hair and grey blue eyes in the tuathe de dannan painting by Duncan, which was also happens to be my previous boyfriends name.

So in Genesis 6:4, the “Giants” was mistranslated. The Hebrew word Gigantes from Gigas - earth. The word was Earth born people - they were very large but still “giants” was a mistranslation. This corresponds with your telling of the Fir Bolg.

Oh & also "young earth creationism" wasnt really & isnt the original belief of Jews or Orthodox Christians. You see according to faith the Earth has had many different ages/stages before it was laid out in its current order. So when they give a date for when "the earth began" they mean when that age of the Earth began. Western sects have lost much of this teaching & so have many of the 9 different Jewish sects that are currently practiced. The fracturing of east & west caused a disconnect. Now westerners typically think they know what the teachings were/are but they do not. Mostly b/c you have the uninitiated & illumined reading the text & interpreting the entire faith themselves w/o the oral traditions & guidance etc that would help them to do understand what they are reading.
