What I always find weird is that the Celts who are the inventors of chainmail are almost always depicted without armor or even without clothes. Which is very likely completely inaccurate. Now there is a little evidence that maybe some small groups of Celts mostly from the continent did go into battle nude likely to demonstrate the courage and fitness of their warriors similar to how the Olympics were done nude, it also possible this was used as a shock tactic as the Celts were certainly masters of psychological warfare. However this has been applied way too broadly and the archeology heavily suggests this was not the norm so as beautiful as some of these paintings may be its completely wrong.
