You don't really understand irish culture. Much of our culture is based around the pub sing-song, where somebody sings a song and everybody joins in. For an upbeat song like this the group want the audience to sing along. This shows that they know the songs and that they are enjoying themselves by taking part. Now for other songs such as Ave Maria then the audience should be quiet. Nothing wrong with singing along just has to be with the right song.
@macaelatice-loma10483 жыл бұрын
@@tuff8000 you got no idea how much fun it is singing allong in the crowd during these classic songs of theirs... honestly you aint a fan if you dont... when i sang orinoco flow i was in front row and Chloe saw me her smile was so big!! i think for a artist if people sing your songs like this it means allot to them so they know its good music and you enjoy it!!
@julistarling83822 жыл бұрын
Exactly. They *want* you to sing along. I thought it was brilliant how many in the audience actually know the chorus of this. Especially since that part, a lot of the people probably learned from either Irish or Scottish tradition, not from Celtic Woman. Wow. Lovely. 😍

I believe that it's comes from the hundreds of year's of oppression and denial of the language and heritage. The British suppressed anything and everything that they could after defeating them in multiple war's. They forced everything into the underground.

+Little Light I agree with you. It matters not what the line up is, they all bring something to the table, just enjoy them for what they are and that is a concept not a group with a lasting line up
@officert51478 жыл бұрын
Same. I was hoping to find maybe some softness in the comments of such a timeless, beautiful performance. People will bitch about anything to the point where they don't want to do anything else. Honestly they're not worth it. Who is more true to the spirit of song and story -- those who whine about technicalities and cling so loyally to the way things used to be that they are hostile to anything different? or those who listen to the song and find their own meaning in it, who find new beauty in an ancient melody despite a fast-changing world of traditions, languages, and lineups? Songs and stories survive through generations and wars and famines by changing a little bit each time they are told. And the magic of them is that even over a thousand years or a thousand miles--their beauty can still be recognized by all kinds of people. They are rejuvenated and given new life that reflects the cultures and people they pass through. Every new voice that sings an old song adds a new color, a new story to the brilliant tapestry woven across countries and years. Over a thousand years or a thousand miles, the spirit of a song grows more complex and gains nuance… and through everything still burns as brightly as it did when it was first sung. This rendition is not "worse" just because it is new.

The only way to keep her from moving would be to put her in plaster or cement so she can only move from the arms up. I wonder how much hair she loses on tour from playing the violin.(it gets stuck in the bow or strings and gets pulled out per Mairead N)

Mo Ghile Mear" (My Gallant Darling) is an old Irish song, written in the Irish language by Seán Clárach, Mac Domhnaill in the 18th century. By the 1700's, the old Gaelic order in Ireland and Scotland was crumbling before the advances of the colonizing English. The hopes of both peoples rested with Prince Charles Stuart, "Bonnie Prince Charles." He is the "gile mear" of the song. For a while I was a gentle maiden And now a spent worn-out widow My spouse ploughing the waves strongly Over the hills and far away. He is my hero, my dashing darling He is my Caesar, dashing darling. I've had no rest from forebodings Since he went far away my darling. The cuckoo sings not pleasantly at noon And the sound of hounds is not heard in nut woods, Nor summer morning in misty glen Since he went away from me, my lively boy. Noble, proud young horseman Warrior unsaddened, of most pleasant countenace A swift-moving hand, quick in a fight, Slaying the enemy and smiting the strong.

Sirens don't always sing of sexual acts. They sing of what the person wishes for most. For some sailors it was their wives and children calling them home. Others it was riches and fame. This means these women could very well be sirens who gave up their wings(as sirens were the bird women not the mermaids most people think they are)

Someone commented that one of Mairead's dancing moveS looked LIKE something from Lord of the Dance. Actually,Nesbitt broke into the wider world in 1996 when she was invited to perform in the Michael Flatley show Lord of the Dance There, she played lead fiddle until 1998, at which time she went with Flatley to his second show, Feet of Flames. She toured in this production, again as lead fiddler, until leaving in 2001. Nesbitt also played on the original soundtracks to both shows, as well as for the soundtrack to Riverdance. So yes,her background is Lord of the Dance.The young lady hasn't missed a step bless her heart.

I miss them too, but if Meav and Orla hadn't left, we wouldn't have seen Alex and Lynn, and if _they_ hadn't left we wouldn't have hot lil' Lambe, and if Lisa Kelly hadn't left, we wouldn't have Susan, who is as dazzling as Meav (see Home for Christmas). Now we've lost Chloe, which is the biggest hit CW has ever taken, but it's still Celtic Woman. At least until Mairead Nesbitt retires. Then it's over unless David knows another gorgeous violin virtuoso who dances like a Broadway showgirl. And while every new show is hailed as their best ever, IMO they never topped A New Journey. Orla and Hayley and Meav, oh my!

OM MY GOD THAT'S IT!!!!! I. WANT. AND. NEED, TO. JOIN. THE. CELTIC.WOMAN. GROUP!!!!! No questions about it, I have to!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why must I be almost cursed in watching these amazing people have so much fun and do what they love on stage while I sit at home and waste my talents as a singer?? No worries ladies, I still love you and wish you everything good that comes your way, but SERIOUSLY, I want to join so, so, so, so, bad!!! Sorry for ranting all! :)

She does have her own music though. She and some of Celtic Thunder are doing an online special in March 2021 for $75. It starts on the 13th I believe.

Has anyone else noticed that Susan does a head nod from the steps in the direction of where Máiréad bounces onto the stage? It maybe a que for her to start her part of the performance.
