Celtic X Knot with Chains: Start To Finish

This knot is one of my most favorite to date. I really like the 4 circular rings worked into the design. They remind me of chain links in mail armor.

Little confused by the 7x7 when it was a 14x14 but I got it! Maybe there is something I dont know about grid terminology. Thanks for showing us.

Each “unit” of the 7x7 grid is a 2x2 of smaller squares. This just makes the knot larger. It would have worked exactly the same if the grid was just a 7x7 grid of the smaller squares.

With this pattern of break lines, I don’t think it’s possible. I do enjoy trying to find designs that are only a single strand though!

Geez. This is really hard. What is your method for knowing which lines are parallel and which ones are perpendicular?

This is an advanced knot! When you’re first starting out, draw a set of parallel lines and then a perpendicular set adjacent to it. Keep switching back and forth until you’ve connected all the dots except for the corners and break lines. After you’ve made a few knots, it’s easy to see where the parallel and perpendicular lines will go and you can do all parallel followed by all perpendicular. Doing all of one kind at a time helps me draw straighter lines. Try checking out some of my other videos for easier knots to start with. Hi Farhan, I’m sorry you feel that way. The steps pop up as captions at the bottom of the screen but do go quickly. Maybe I’ll remake this video in the future at a slower pace with a voiceover so the steps are more clear. In the mean time, if you’d like to make this knot, try pausing the video and replicating the lines on your graph paper.
