When you play good teams, there will always be key moments in games that can be turning points. The ifs and buts. Celtic survived a bad spell and turned in a magnificent performance. McGregor was immense. Games turn on fine margins and key moments against good teams. We came of age.

And it was ''a bad spell'' & what normally happens when we have such ''a bad spell'' playing at the very highest level in Europe, we concede a fatal second & sometimes third goal in quick succession & go to pieces so it's then all over, BUT not this time, because this time we really did dig in as Roy Keane too likes to say & truly showed mental strength & character & rode our luck & got through it all in seeking that much needed equaliser before half time & we got it & what a deft & sublime goal it was from Kuhn that set the heather blazing....

Loving the data and insight from James and Alan. My go to Channel. The ‘super computer’ fixturing needs highlighting. The qty of away matches after Europe should be concerning for our Club.

Interesting point about how the defence moved the ball under pressure really well, using Meada and Kyogo in training probably helps, they're not getting chased down any quicker than that in games

When you cast your mind back to Rodgers' post-match Dortmund comments that he had no intention of changing things you now realise that Brendan can bull**** with the best of them! He changed things all right though maybe in not a very complicated way. The manager and team clearly had learnt a lot for the Atalanta game in tactical terms and this carried on for Leipzig. I do agree though that there are very fine margins between victory and defeat and if that second header had gone in after their first goal things could have been somewhat different to say the least. But will always be the case in these games and we steadied the ship and the team played some of the best football I have ever seen from a Celtic team in Europe .. and I have seen an awful lot! As I said before the key in tackling top teams at home is hunting them down in packs and unsettling them. and that's exactly what we did which had me purring with delight. Btw, why do the non-goal contributions of Kyogo never seem to get a mention here.or elsewhere. He was initially responsible for the second goal due to his typical press on the keeper and his multiple defensive clearances in our own box from corners and set-pieces has become remarkable not to mention his off-ball movements . Kyogo should no longer be considered simply as a striker he has become under Rodgers much much more than that!

Every goal starts off with a mistake. The clue is being switched on to take advantage. Reo’s goal was a good sample. Right player at the right time when keeper spills ball.

I have very often been one of oor current Manager's severest critics over the years when it comes to talking aboot how he has set up when playing at the very highest level in Europe & rightly so, as his litany of the most horrific & horrendous defeats in this particular football theatre so easily & so demonstrably prove & don't worry, the but is coming & here it is, but on Tuesday night against Leipzig, he got it completely right with his tactics & starting eleven & for me, the very best overall Champions League performance at Celtic Park since oor exhilarating 2-1 defeat of Barcelona exactly twelve years ago today, 7th November 2012.....

Engels was fine. Damned by faint praise comes to mind. He is so pedestrian he merits his own precinct. He’s dooo a game. :)

Great analysis of a memorable match. I agree that the Musa miss would probably have been disallowed for a foul on AJ if it had resulted in a goal. I would not make many changes for Kilmarnock. Perhaps Idah for Kyogo, I believe his game is better suited to the surface and McCowan for Engels or a rested Hatate. ☘️☘️☘️

I was living in Germany when we beat Stuttgart in 2002/3. Kuryani scored, we wobbled then went 2-1 bang on half time with Maloney. 3-0 win against Benfica under WGS also a great performance. I don’t have the stats to back me up, but there have been slim pickings for us. My memory of both games is of a dominant performance. Against Stuttgart, the German tv commentators asked Magath if he was surprised and unprepared for a strong opponent. Edit: I look forward to the day when we can discuss Celtic in Europe without referencing Dortmund.

Nusa miss would’ve surely been disallowed. AJ clearly fouled off the ball. Unreal performance

I agree it may well have been a different outcome had Leipzig made it 2-0 during that 10 minute period of domination they had after scoring BUT the point is that Celtic were good enough on the night to be able to punish Leipzig for not taking a big chance to score at 1-0. How often have we heard it over the years, when dissecting another European defeat, "You have to take your chances at this level or you get punished...." or words to that effect. So it was very nice to be on the other end of that for a change and be the team handing out the harsh lessons in top level European football to a team like Leipzig. If you come to Glasgow and don't take your chances when you're on top, you will be punished. Now obviously I'd rather we just didn't give up those sorts of chances in the first place and that is where there is still room for improvement. One excellent performance doesn't mean all is well now at Celtic. We have to try and build on this and cut out some of this mistakes that could've led to us being 2-0 down inside 30 minutes. But when all is said and done, that was one of our best "result & performance" combos in Europe of the last 20 odd years.

Great show guys I would start with Luke mcowan Bernardo on the weekend bring some fresh legs in Maybe try Yang on the left give us some creativity rather than maeda given his only positive is pressing we don’t need that particularly
@georgebarr51024 сағат бұрын
Maeda missed chances and gave the ball away dangerously like he did in dortmund and cost us goals I don’t recall - maybe one recovery tackle, no creativity from the left ever I really wish we had a khun level player on both wings What’s your priority for January and last 16/8 Left back left wing for me - ditch Rocky & Palma & Holm
