Glad to hear you will be giving it a try! You can find more information regarding these cements on our website at www.acrylite.co/acrylic-products/cements.html.

Does this work on saw cut edges? I caught in the middle of the video on the TAP manufacturer's website that they recommend ips weld on 16 acrylic cement instead if not a purely polish like flat finish which your video seems to show?

How would you recommend treating the edges before attaching if the pieces have been laser cut to prevent crazing?
@ACRYLITEAcrylic3 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa, We would recommend edge finishing or routing off the laser cut area where the part will be cemented. The area that is stressed by the laser is not very far into the part and not much material needs to be removed to reduce the chances of crazing. Hope this helps!

If no edge finisher or router is available you can scrap the edge also! Some folks use the old school method and run the part through a wood jointer!

Is this better than UV reactive glue? I use Acri-bond 105 (water thin solvent) and get air bubbles.
@ACRYLITEAcrylic2 жыл бұрын
Our experience with UV reactive acrylic cement joints is that they can be bubble free, but they are not very strong. The Acri-Bond 105 is a solvent cement that contains methylene chloride and is similar to the Acrifix 1S0107. The solvent cements want to evaporate and that is what will cause the bubbles. One of the keys to having the 1S0107 solvent cement joint be as bubble free as possible, is to have a good finish on the edge of the sheet (a finish made with an edge finish machine works well). Shim the joint, apply the cement, wait 45-60 seconds and then put some weight on the joint. If the cement is evaporating quickly than you may need to use some packaging tape around the joint to slow down the evaporation after the weight is applied. If you want a truly bubble free joint, we recommend using a 2 part/polymerizable - ACRIFIX® 2R0190 cement. More labor, but bubble free. Hope this helps!

What about edge to edge attachment not in the middle?
@ACRYLITEAcrylic3 жыл бұрын
You can cement using the same method, just line the vertical sheet up with the edge of the bottom sheet! The jig that we use does not touch the joint, so it will not interfere with running the needle on the inside of the joint. Hope this helps!
