Hi Centaurworld fans! My previous compilation video got forcibly auto-marked 'made for k1ds' and the appeal is rejected. I'm not currently/interested to becoming a YT partner so I'm not getting any ad revenue anyway, however it's annoying to lose comments just because of 'the algorithm', so I decided to reupload with a minimal description and take this opportunity to do version 2 with a few additions from the previous video's comments: (thanks!) * More merman magazines * Rider "Why didn't you guys just let me do the war crimes?" * Comfortable Doug's nipple flight * The Nowhere King turning his head

I remember hearing a quote that went along like "children already know the world is scary and full of things that will hurt them. What they need to learn isn't that these things aren't real, but that they have the power to fight back and triumph". It's not about all these dark, horrible things, but about how good can win the day and people can get better. Kids need hope for the future more than anything, and I think these stories work better for that than stories that avoid dark concepts to shield kids from reality.

And a lot of the time, even when most people had tried to avoid adding dark elements to kids media, they usually do it very badly or their media still has things in it that would be considered dark later on anyways (like the Smooze from the old '80s My Little Pony cartoon series), so it's better anyways to write a good story with dark elements vs trying to write without the dark elements and getting a poorly written story in the process. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

According to the show's creator, the reason the tiny versions immediately have an existential crisis every time is because they have all the memories of the original right up to the moment of their creation, so from their perspective they tried to create a tiny version and became one instead. There's an entire horror game (SOMA) made on pretty much this exact premise.

People keep saying that if they saw this show as a child, they’d be traumatized. I disagree. I think this show is probably one of the best out there right now. It has a very compelling story with an amazing meaning for kids to learn. The music is amazing. It’s bright and colourful. And also honestly it tackles a lot of issues we don’t normally see in kids shows. Instead of hiding the darker side of the world from kids can cause them to grow up without the knowledge these things exist. The suicide representation is a great example of how amazing the show portrays it for kids. They explain it simply enough and without actually saying it’s suicide but imply it. Then at the end when horse is rescued, they go through the explanation that you shouldn’t give up and pain is normal. It’s beautIful. And it doesn’t glorify suicide but merely explains it. So then the kid might ask their parent questions and then it can be explained. Most villains in kids shows are never punished really for what they’ve done. Villains who aren’t punished could teach kids that their negative actions don’t have consequences or that you should forgive every single person no matter what they’ve done to you (which is not healthy). But this show instead says no and gives the Nowhere King the punishment he deserved. People have got to understands kids are more mature then we give them credit. I think the Y7 rating is perfect for this show and doesn’t need to go higher or lower whatsoever
@c.a.fontaine10742 жыл бұрын
I agree another thing alot of kids shows do is have the villian be locked away forever or, if they are actually killed off it's usually framed as an accident(which is also a bad choice in my opinion, considering how many villians in kids shows just happen to fall off cliffs). I think that centaur world handled this perfectly, with the villian being directly killed off by another character.

Kids have and will always be shown ratings that are intended for adults and be completely fine ‘cause it sails over their heads but… …this is no kid’s show. This is something that got Y-7 slapped onto it simply because it didn’t have any blatant cursing (despite “what the FLANK” but. Y’know.) which is a darn shame. Shame as in a lot of women’s works get infantilized regardless of content, and it is depressingly common for it to happen to WoC The rating *should* be higher by content and the intended themes. The fact that it’s not smells pretty rotten in the state of denmark.
@jamiesmyth59652 жыл бұрын
@@anonymousfellow8879 I agree with you. Some female creators of shows have their work infantilized. But I also think shows like this that deals with darker but important elements in a way that is kid friendly is also important to show kids. They learn of these darker things later on anyways. And sometimes it isn’t in good circumstances. This show allows you to prepare your kids in a healthy way. And obviously I mean kids seven and up. Those kids are able to understand specific issues really well. We’ve gotten used to shows talking down to children and shielding them from darker real life issues. Of course if a child doesn’t like it or thinks it’s scary, they obviously can stop watching. But if my kid ever says they want to watch it, I won’t stop them. A movie that can be considered scary for some kids but we’ll loved by others is Coraline. Yes it has a pg rating but I had friends who were genuinely completely terrified and traumatized by that movie. However, I loved it when I was a child. Every kids is different and will want to watch different things.
@Egg-Thor2 жыл бұрын
No bro people are not saying they'd be scarred if they watched this as kids because of the messages behind the show. No kid is going to get scarred from the whaletaur song or from Horse jumping into her mouth. This isn't about "suicide representation" or how mature 7 year olds are. That's not what people are referring to. People are saying they'd be scarred and traumatized if they watched this as kids because we literally just watched a deer get *his skin melted off* into black goo and contort his body into a plague monster of death. We watched a colourful bird person get turned into a disturbing crocodile hybrid abomination. We watched the main villain unhinge it's jaw and eat a character on screen, as the victim's body struggled to hold on to life while being digested inside the abyss. This show lures you in with a colourful and bubbly outside, and then hits you with a visceral scene of a man trying to drown a fucking deer and only stopping because he started spouting water from all the orifices in his face and almost drowning himself. This isn't about if kids can understand "the message" or not. People are saying they'd be scarred if they watched this as kids because THIS SHOW IS FUCKING DISTURBING.

This makes me cry every time I see it. You KNOW she still loved him even after all those years but had to kill him for the Nowhere King and the General to die. And before he separated himself into these two entities, he was a sincere, nice, rather handsome Elktaur and the Princess/Woman liked him...but by this point so much bad had happened in both worlds, I think to Woman it felt like instead of killing her husband she was putting a pet to sleep...and the complexity of all of this still makes me sob like a baby

I'd actually argue that Centaurworld really IS for kids, in the same way that old animated films like Secret of NIMH are still very much for kids, even though they are really dark. There's a lot about centaurworld that could be considered not exactly kid friendly, but I don't think the whaletaur episode is one of them. It's obviously supposed to be an allegory for suicide/depression, but children can handle heavy subjects and the show did it in an age appropriate way. Unfortunately a lot of young kids have depression or have had suicidal thoughts, so the message of seeking help in times of hopeless/worthlessness is a good one imo
