2011 wasnt the start of hybrids at Le Mans that was 2012 with the Audi R18 E-tron Quattro in 2011, Audi had the R18 Ultra TDI in 2011.

The ACO authored the 2011 regulations where LMP cars were allowed to run with *kinetic energy recovery system hybrid powertrains.* They also reduced fuel amounts for gas and diesel cars and engine sizes for turbocharged and diesel engines to reduce CO2 and fuel consumption.
