Good job navigating the bison. I run into them all the time in Yellowstone, and it always makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Thanks for putting together these videos!

I want to do a thru hike and I want to start with this one! Thank you for documenting it all! Did you say in the video what month you’re hiking? I might want to avoid a little more of the cold and drizzle.

I have gaia...I am gaia stupid. I can't seem to find the trail in its entirety. Did you make it yourself or find sections and download them?

I drew it myself

I enjoyed the video and seeing familiar spots on the trail - I took lots of pictures, but not much video. I was one of the thru-hikers you saw and mentioned (thanks for the good wishes!). I think that day through the wilderness area was our most miserable! We hit our stride not long after that and would have made it to Bear Butte, but we both had a hard out and ran out of time - we stopped at Alkali Creek.

Glad you made it that far and had fun. ✌️

Got me rolling w the ode to IBTAT. Was supposed to do the Centennial in May as well but I'm sidelined needing back surgery. Aiming for next May now. Great video!

We were camping in Custer State park the last week of May for 5 nights and doing a bunch of day hikes. I was very impressed, the Black Hills are beautiful with lots of fun hiking. We also hiked around Sheridan Lake really cool trail. Nice video cant wait for part 2!

Love the IBTAT reference! If the borders open up soon, I'll be driving down from Winnipeg in September to do the trail!

I'm thinking about thru-hiking the CT in June. Where are the resupply places? Did you mail yourself boxes? Or hitchhike into towns?
@MidwestBackpacker2 жыл бұрын
I resupplied at a campground in the middle. A lot of resorts, Rushmore and towns close. No need to hitch.

What was cell reception like for you? Were you able to get some signal everyday?
@MidwestBackpacker6 ай бұрын
I’m sure if I checked more often I would probably have signal.

Nice. I hope I remember to ask you how you arranged for your resupply on next video. Awesome video, thanks.

When did you hike this? thinking of attempting sometime in September. I know prime time is Spring, but the only time I'm free to do this is late summer/early fall.

Memorial Day. Water will be harder to find in the fall.

Curious about the date of this hike. My son and I began a thru hike of this trail in '08. He was only 8 so I was rather anxious about being around the bison for the first couple days. You put together a nice video as it brings back great memories of our time there. Actually we got weathered out and actually have a few days to finish the northern section from Nemo but look forward to getting back out there. 9 hours from home in Iowa and life gets in the way of us concluding the trip but your video is inspiring us to get er done. Looking forward to part 2. I really enjoy your commentary along the way. Thanks again.

Hi. I noticed you were using GAIA when you were trying to course correct to get back on trail. Was this working better for you than the Avenza app?

Dude you are an absolute beast of a hiker! I just did the trail until Legion lake and decided that I need to do this in sections. It kicked my ass! Those uphill with every sports ball sized rock made those sections so difficult! Good job killing this trail!
@kristalann19733 жыл бұрын
Beautiful video Jeremy! I hiked 5 miles into French Creek Nature Area from the opposite end while I was there staying at Legion Lake...I also encountered single male buffalo on the trails 3 times and did not enjoy my stare down either😳ended up doing the same hiking extra distance to give him plenty of room definitely scary when you have NO trees climb if they decide to charge! Great views from the highest point on the trail...looking forward to seeing part 2 and getting your thoughts on Bear Butte as I also hiked that trail on my adventure!

You killed it on that second day! I only made it to Iron Creek on my second day. When I attempted my thru it was way too hot and I bushwhacked around bison all day. Can't wait to get back up there and finish the trail though, this video helps keep the fire alive!

Would Love to HEAR what you're saying if it wasn't for the LOUD MUSIC. Would rather hear the wind, animals, leaves & branches cracking underfoot. Besides that Thank You for taking your time to do these vlogs & sharing with the World. Such a beautiful trail.
