Learn how to play Amie by Pure Prairie League on guitar. Great acoustic tune with cool lead intro solo in A Pentatonic major. Mostly uses open chords until the outro which requires some practice.

FINALLY, someone who shows the fret board from the view of the player instead of the observer. FINALLY!!!!!!

i always wondered why no one else did this either, makes it easier as a beginner where other times i've had a hard time picking a song up, i learned this intro super fast, jamming away and having fun in 10 mins

Subscribed after watching the first 5 minutes of this. Same as what others are commenting: It is so good to see a clear, professionally-produced guitar tutorial by someone who is both a good musician and a good teacher.

The beginning four bars (and the similar a bit later) can be played simpler: bar across the first three strings on fret 2 and then finger strings 1 and 2 at the 5fth fret. (note the fret is NOT the wires themselves but IS the space between two fretWIRES). What you call the "lead intro" is, technically, called the melody, which you are missing some notes on.

I just tried and compared the two and your method is much much easier with little to no distinction in sound. This tip is especially helpful when you’re on a gig jumping from one song to another. I’ve always struggled with the other way to find the right finger placements, then test strum to make sure I had my notes clear and then start. but your method is an instant jump with zero “hunting” or “fishing” involved. Thanks for this shortcut!

Gary Garrett's comments say it all. Great lesson from start to finish. Everything is as clear as could be. Very simple - not to be confused with easy, but when you know what to do all that's left to do is practice. Only 9,999 more hours to go! lol

This is actually the best lesson I've seen on Aimee. The timing is clear here whereas on other lessons I have been able to pick up the notes but my timing sucked. I have yet to try it again but I thin I got it.

I love this video. I was looking for the song "Aimee" on KZbin and this came up. I don't play the guitar (fingers are not long enough, but not too stubby to play the flute!) but I'm always up to learning something new. I love your teaching style. I just stumbled onto this video and was hooked. I sat through the entire thing. I may have learned a thing or two along the way!

I'm surprised no one has the entire song on karaoke or any lesson. The intro ("more than I could feel, touching what is real", etc.) is lovely and has some really cool chords.

CARLOS A. SANCHEZ , I think the part you’re talking about is the song “Falling in and out of love with you” they sometimes play the two songs together. Sounds great together but two different songs.
