I’m a Gen-X native of South Central L.A. (on the east side) and I love learning about the rich and jazzy history of Central Avenue. Government intrusion destroyed this beautiful pearl of Black Los Angeles called Central Avenue. Today, L.A.’s Central Avenue is sanctuary haven for illegal immigrants from south of the border😡

Is there any possibility of seeing this film in full? Ernie Andrews is astonishing in may ways (probably the greatest living singer) - check at c. 13:00 mins how magnificently he intones "Lush Life": such character and intelligence in his interpretation - and such feeling: DAMN! (As an aside it was fascinating to hear about the song "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying" composed by Joe Greene - I had only ever heard Shirley Horn's great and celebrated later-day Verve recording: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYuToIuihqx7fck).
