It's been done in China, they stopped the people who had accounts gaining access to their money. This carbon allowance is scary too, if it's digital governments will find a way to stop your access.

CBDC is a dystopian nightmare. However, how do translate your bitcoin into spendability 'across counters' when - if the very worse comes to the worse - (and we MUST fight this) all transactions are digitally handled through the central bank? I.e: is my local garage going to accept bitcoin as payment!?! Not explained!

Agree. The whole Bitcoin saga doesn't make sense to me, because humans generally and especially on the political left fringe find it difficult to organize almost anything, without overt or insidious support and/or funding from the Plutocracy, which they themselves often do not understand is occuring or why. I do not believe humans generally, not on a National scale let alone a global scale, are able to organize something like Bitcoin as a supposed attack on the powers of the ruling class, without implicit or explicit support from the Plutocracy. There is no small kernel, which might have grown into a bigger thing on its own, such as the masses of enthusiast programmers everywhere who end up making something like GNU/Linux. Bitcoin is _one system_ and therefore as such it was centralized until the competition showed up, but even without competition it is still an international currency, which implies centralization due to that fact. This coupled with the shady beginnings of Bitcoin, my hypotheses on Bitcoin is that it was a test run of digital private central bank currency, by pretending it came from "left field" on it's own, and supposedly gives people freedom. The principle is now proven, a large amount of people accept Bitcoin and campaign for it in a positive way, all of which makes adoption of a private central bank digital currency much easier. Bitcoin can be shut down so easily by the State, this is absolutely no problem. "It is forbidden to trade in bitcoin. If you trade in Bitcoin, you will be fined X amount on the first offense." Etc. If the costumer can find the Bitcoin accepting business, so can the police. The End. The delusion of the Bitcoin enthusiasts is that they think they have power, that they have organized themselves somehow. The whole thing also acts as a distraction for them, so that they think they have a way out, while looking in the wrong direction. Power is mass organization coupled with a clear, practical and benefitial ideology and strategy. Freedom from tyranny lies in all kinds of aspects of life. In the economy, the essential freedom is _land._ Land is the beginning of everything, and the end of everything. Land has to be distributed for free and forever to everyone as a right. Without this, we are slaves and will be culled as needed. People do not want to comprehend why and how this is so, and therefore they will not be able to set up an economy around freedom and markets able to keep itself stable for longer periods. Bitcoin people underestimate the power of both the State, and the criminal Plutocracy. They overestimate their own abilities both as individuals and as a group. They overestimate the power of this computer program called Bitcoin or other digital currencies. They are not critical enough in thinking about the activities of the criminal Plutocracies, and how they themselves are probably just tools for a job to them. The whole network is not owned by the people in any meaningful way. There is no way around that hard fact, as far as I see, and the power of (de)cryption is far greater on the side of those with all the money. The implementation of political control over private citizens their money will undoubtedly be greased by the highest sounding ideals, for the love of mankind and all living creatures, as an absolutely critical solution for disasters real, fabricated and/or imagined, etc. A few personal tragedies on TV, and the population will worship private central bank digital currencies. If there is resistance, they can always dial back their controls, until resistance has lowered sufficiently. If common citizens are not bothered in their personal conveniences enough, they do not care what happens to their rights, freedoms or moral obligations. (The "Iron Mountain report" keeps poppin into my head as I write this ... _nature itself_ was to be made into the enemy, so that _mankind itself_ was the enemy, in the event that peace would break out, and the tool of war for control over the people was lost .... funny how this is now happening on a grand scale).

Without a commodity backing the money it ain't worth the paper it's printed on or in this case not printed on,if this came about barter system by necessity would return and government can't tax barter,for instance someone might barter fruit picking labour for fruit then barter excess for vegetables etc,it may sound far fetched but people will come up with another form of currency exchange wether,barter or even minting there own coins out of gold or silver or just using half gold sovereigns or silver dollars,what this article is suggesting could not work as people will find a different exchange method

Barter can and does in some places work well in rural settings. When you get into big towns and cities it breaks down real fast. Most urban dwellers don't have much to barter with.

@@anthonydoyle7370 poor people have there labour to barter with and according to government there is a chronic shortage of rural labour on the land and in there cities in social care nursing etc,I agree you would not be able to barter for luxury items but the staples of life I don't see why not,I'm not sure but I suspect during victorian Britain there might have been some barter but I'm not sure wether this happened but without social security in victorian times Britain I think people might have bartered,it might even still go in parts of Africa and maybe parts of India

This girl annoys me. She spreads a message without covering the concerns, "put your money in bitcoin it's completely decentralised" yes it is completely decentralized, your basically your own bank. But! and it's a big but, bitcoin is far far farrrrr away from being used as a main stream currency, simply because it's volatile as f*ck. Wouldn't be great if you had this months wages transferred into bitcoin, and found out come rent payment your paycheck has reduced by 50% over night. A stable coin could fix that, if all the stable coins weren't dodgy as hell so I wouldn't bother, except for maybe USDC... but still, all these need to be regulated to work and protect citizens.
