It would've been great if the Nopon Sage granted you access to now inaccessible areas. Even if you'd have to win or buy the ability to access them. XC2 definitely did it better. There's only one area that becomes completely inaccessible and the game warns you when it happens, so you can decide to not save and go back to check if you haven't missed something.

@@ramahermawan4598 Do some quests to level up, equip Dunban with a bunch of agility boosting gems, equip all of Sharla's healing arts. I remember he was immune to break and topple, however if you keep using moves of the same colour in a chain attack you'll get damage multipliers. E.g. Sharla's headshot --> Dunban's Gale slash --> Shulks backslash. Using a talent art also counts as any colour and it can be followed with a different colour too. Meaning you can have a combo of red followed by a talent art and the combo can continue with pink arts despite starting with red. Equipping tension up gems to the other characters should help with getting a long chain attack going.

@@maxg2335 I see you use Sharla too. I agree with people that she's the worst character, but she can be very useful in tough battles against higher level enemies when you need healing desperately. If she had a half decent talent art I'd probably use her a lot more tbh lol, but she has her uses

Joe Cool Honestly I always found the game didn’t have a worst party member, I used her a bunch on this playthrough (4th time playing the game) and there’s multiple powerful monsters I wouldn’t have defeated if I didn’t have her keeping everyone alive. I beat a level 86 monster at level 78 with Dunban as the main attacker and Sharla keeping him alive. I dunno, I find her underrated. Also her insta kill headshot attack has saved me from really long fights on multiple occasions AND she can inflict both Break and Daze, get some one who can inflict topple and assuming the RNG works for you (which it did often enough for me) enemies can easily be vulnerable to a headshot.

Music tracks with a heavy emphasis on strings or brass suffer the most when synthesized. This is one of those tracks, and it was always destined to be orchestrated one day.

Very true. I feel the same way. Xenoblade ever suffered from fake orchestra, despite it's great soundtrack. It's also the reason Xenoblade 2 Soundtrack is my favorit *because it was recorded with a huge symphony orchestra). I am still really glad they remade most of Xenoblade 1's score.

@@jogymogy3691 I disagree. I think the synthesized orchestra gave the game a very unique and very clean feel to it. It has a certain feel to it that you can't reproduce with a real orchestra.

my first time it felt like ages. of course part of that is because I was using a spoiler-free guide that told me you'd better keep grabbing blue glowies til you get X number of grape springs or whatever, so I was sitting around Agniratha for ages. It's funny how different it looked in the original game, I flat-out never noticed there were windows showing the sky. I instead felt like it was this.. giant parking garage, lit only by dim orange lights, and feeling gloomy and foreboding due to its odd mixture of being dead and suuuper alive and ready to kill you every time you go around that damn spiral staircase one more damn time.

@@ninjamagic004 how much of the game did you play? The Nopon are funny. Melia is fine but probably doesn't fit your playstyle. Same goes for Dunban and Reyn. And why are you judging a game based on those things? Judge games on story, graphics, gameplay(you can choose who your party is btw), and music. All of which are really good in xenoblade chronicles. Spoiler warning... I love how this track sounds like something that would play as you approach the final boss, and that’s exactly how it should sound, since at this point in the game, that’s what you think you’re doing. Once you get to Mechonis Core, a huge plot twist occurs and all of a sudden Egil is no longer an antagonist. Eventually, the time comes when you truly are approaching the final battle once you return to Prison Island, where The End Lies Ahead plays. Both of these tracks perfectly capture the feeling of approaching the climax of an epic journey, and I think it’s really cool that they even incorporated that feeling into the track that plays when you think that that’s what’s happening.

Going into Definitive Edition, I already knew the main game’s story from watching Chuggaaconroy’s Let’s Play years ago, but I avoided watching the story cutscenes in the remake’s engine, because I knew that they'd look amazing and I just wanted to be blown away by them when I got to them on my first run. So when I got to this area, knowing full well what was coming, this music certainly ramped up the tension and excitement for me. And it was absolutely worth it. One of the best moments of the entire run.

@@MrStarman926 The original was more foreboding, with a heavier emphasis on the bass line and percussion - it felt like you were sneaking through the enemy base in enemy territory, trying to slip through to make it to the end. This version oomphed the higher brass lines for a much more triumphant battle sort of theme. This version doesn't sound like you're sneaking through enemy territory, it sounds like you're kicking the door down and telling Egil to get ready, because you're on your way up.

It doesn’t have as much of the same tension as the original theme, it has more of a hopeful tone to it especially towards the climax of the song, but I almost like it that way since it encapsulates the current situation of the game.
