The journey on this mechanical field is relatively shorter than on Bionis, but somehow, this place will eventually become one of the most unforgettable areas in this game due to the huge reverse impression toward this Mechonis world with the very turning point of the plot, the strange mechanical scenes different from Bionis, and of course, this epic song.

Because there's p much no life left on the Mechonis besides the residents of Junks. And Egil and his warped facebots. Which is so well played writing-wise, because they teach you to hate the mechons so bad and then you finally get there to realize they're worse off than you (residents of bionis) Almost extinct and you realize soon that you'd been had after you defeat Egil. Nothing is ever as it seems with Monosoft games.
@bootsnbutterscotch4 жыл бұрын
Can I just say how much I love the parallels between Bionis and Mechonis? Really think about it. You start the infiltration of Mechonis the same way you began the game: on Sword Valley. The game then shifts focus to a town at the base of the Mechonis, where you then travel up its leg and eventually go inside the titan, which leads you to the capital located at the head. Sound familiar? I love subtle storytelling like that. It's a way to show the player that the Bionis and the Mechonis are a part of the same world and are similar in many ways. The entire game you're lead to believe the Mechonis is a malevolent force that needs to be destroyed when in reality its people are just as lost and confused as the Homs because of a war that's lasted for ages. It's simply beautiful. And this music to tie it all together is just perfection. It's a melancholic tune that plays as you climb this hulking metal behemoth to the presumed end of the game, letting you process all of the twists and turns the story threw at you not a few hours prior. Not to mention it slaps so damn hard. It's a great piece and probably one of my favourite tracks in the whole OST.

I have to say I found a little boring going up inside the Mechonis, scenarios were generic hallways.

In order to understand the mechans, we needed to get inside their heads. Once we came to understand how broken and hollowed out they had become due to a past tragedy, we had to get to the heart of the issues that still plagued them. Don't you see? Our outward journey on and inside the mechanis mirrored what we end up doing for egil. We try to reason with him but we can't, so we try to remind him there is still family that loves him; people he keeps close to his heart.

One thing I really like is that the bionis is designed to be as natural as possible. For example, at the leg of the bionis you start the game by exiting the right route of a fork in the road, that later leads back to tephra cave. Such branching winding paths are often seen in nature, with your path up the bionis being so winding is a great example of such. The mechonis completely contrasts this. To show such, take mechonis field itself. It's essentially the fuel tank of mechonis (quick tangent but this is well integrated into a stage hazard) and has a straight elevator shaft through, with different floors to host the power mechon. It's not wild, like the gaur plains but it's still outside of civilisation. Another great detail is that you and up walking the pipes of the upper half of the mechonis' central factory, showing how the biology of the mechonis is much more suited to the mechon than the homs and high entia considering you have to take the improper path. One last interesting contrast is that the head of the bionis is a whole ecosystem, the mechonis head is a gigantic fuel exhaust. It's a really well done contrast.
@angelgamer082 жыл бұрын
SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD: Another thing I noticed was how the scenery on the Fallen Arm was a mix of Bionis and Mechonis. From the moment you first see the beach, you wonder where you could have landed. Then you see the plant life along with the biological creatures living amongst the metal, and you almost can't believe that this was once a part of the Mechonis. Even better is if you look at the first cutscene, you can see that the arm was once fully mechanical, implying that biological life had begun to grow and live on it over time. To me, it sends a message that Bionis and Mechonis could one day live in harmony again.

To a lot of other people this song seems to represent the vastness of Mechonis. For me personally it more so represented the coldness of enemy territory. The party is behind enemy lines, climbing the lifeless husk of the enemy they've been facing for so long and this ethereal synth accompanies their delve into the mechanical labyrinth

This is a solid representation of how chill the machina are compared to, say, zanza or pre-zanza Egil

I definitely didn’t expect an area on the Mechonis to have a theme like this. It slaps
@fireXdisaster10 ай бұрын
This has that vibe, you know the vibe, the "you are in enemy territory and shouldn't mess out with it too much cuz if you do, you'll be in for a trouble" vibe, that vibe. But you can't help it being here for too long, because the song is way too good, arguably the best song in the game. I was like "why does this sounds so different compared to all other places, and why is this amazing?", also, i have certain admiration for mechanical/future environments since i was a kid, a loooooong time ago, so that also makes me like this even more

I adore this track heavily. I wasn't expecting so much emotion and such a fantastic arrangement of instruments for Mechonis. It's oddly fitting, especially in retrospect where you're at the final quarter of the experience, with *Fiona* of all people. It's just wonderful, I spent several minutes listening to it for the first, and was thoroughly impressed.

Some say it drags out for a bit longer than it should. I disagree, I think it’s just the right size, and is actually one of my favorite areas in the game (might be due to this amazing theme).

@@hypno3057 Definitely. I knew this incredible track was coming as I got to this part of the game since I've beaten the original release, and honestly welcomed every single excuse to keep playing in mechonis field. The main reason was that pretty much all the enemies had spike damage and in the original game, enemies that had spike damage weren't made as obvious so it was really easy to run up to something, backslash, and die instantly lol
@Merudiana-the-local-demoness4 жыл бұрын
I think it had something to do with the color scheme being mostly brown, and since the original was on the Wii, it did not look very great. There was also lots of enemies with spikes, and the spikes were extremely unfair in the original

When I first went through this area, I immediately got strong world tree vibes from XC2. Both have a mystical, mechanical wonder to them… But XC1’s mechonis field feels more like you’re running into the center of a giant factory, while the World Tree feels more like you’re entering a giant futuristic city. It’s wild, the contrast between the 2.

@TheFrostedfirefly Жыл бұрын
I really do think this track is a lot more genius than people give it credit for. (Spoilers, obviously) What do you often picture when you imagine the end game? The main base for the enemies you had spent the entire game building up to? Oppression? Tension thicker than a bog? Hostility? Especially with an environment so *mechanical*, you'd at least expect it to have an underlying sense of danger to it, right? Well, that may be true for the environment itself, but the Mechonis is not -- and has never been your enemy. You step foot within the mechanical titan, and you're hit with a wave of pure wonder. Perhaps the same sense of wonder you felt when traversing your own home; The Bionis. The tones are almost upbeat. You at least sense no threat within the music itself, rather it almost makes you feel welcome to be there. Makes you feel a strange sense of warmth, and not just from the electricals overheating. You've painted such a vivid picture in your head on how you'd percieve the Mechonis when entering enemy territory, and yet you're conflicted almost immediately thanks to the soothing synths and hearty rhythm. Shulk up until this point, has practically felt the same.
