The main reason I bought a Subaru Forester was so I could sleep in the back sometimes during road trips. Then I realized a flaw in my plan. As long as the fob is very close to or inside the vehicle, the doors will always open when the handles are pulled. Since I will always have the fob with me in the car, I will always be unsafe there, because burglars can target my car while I'm sleeping in there . Is there a way to lock the doors so they will not unlock or open from the outside when the fob is inside? ~ Thanx.

Heyya all! A 2005 Legacy new owner here... Same key, same issue with the locking-unlocking. It's not working at all. Not even the engine!! The key turn gives life to all accessories, but just won't start, not even a cranky or a click. The ECU recognizes the key as the flashing red dash key symbol stops. I cannot find online where might be the issue, so I tried using the PIN keypad but it should give a flashing red LED when pressing any button and it does not. Do you know if there are any fuses to blame? All the ones I've seen seem to be in order.

@@BrianJannikos after digging through Internet, and all forums hopelessly, Fob antena, fob battery, unpaired fob, complete immobilizer failure, fuses and relays, key cylinder, bad starter or solenoid... I was lost. I figured it had to be wires (either of the alarm or the ignition) after systematic elimination process. So I started digging the alarm module, thinking it might be a bad wire (or connection) leading to it,, or some LEDs, or soldering in the module itself. I wouldn't care about the warranty, it expired long time ago. However, before digging it all out, I remembered from Uni days that there is a battery surface charge loss after some time. That's when your battery shows it's real voltage. I tried using a car12/18V starter pack, and tested it frequently until it hit about 100% but it would not turn over. So even though my battery showed 12.7V after charging, let's say it dropped significantly after an hour or two, to below 12V. So I kept charging it with a regular charger, for far longer time, and it fired up from first time. I felt like an idiot.

@@emel60 I did take the battery off and charge it for 10 hours and tested it out as my mate said the same thing about the battery as it happened to him but the battery results were fine. So do you think it’s worth a try to get a new battery as it’s fooked ?

@@BrianJannikos erm... That might be costly, but hey, it never hurts to change a battery! I bought mine with the unknown age of the battery, so take a shot at it.

Which fuse?

Does one have to first replace the interior light(s) for this to work? I have the exact problem whereby my center interior light is flickering. (This was after some rewiring while fixing an audio component). However, the fuse seems to be okay- removing and replacing it gets the central lock working Only when the ignition key is in the 'On' position, but fails immediately again once I remove the key from the switch.

Hi, My key stopped working suddenly. I've tried change batteries 4 time, I've tried the spare key but no luck. The engine starts and runs fine. The door on the driver side opens and locks mechanically with the key. The inside switch opens and locks all the doors. If the key is a transmitter I guess there will be a receiver somewhere in the car? Do you have any idea? Anyone can help me? Please :)

Have you checked the fuses in the car?

@@andriusvenckus793 Ive just hung up with the mechanic. Have a look underneat the steering wheel, on the left side there is a cover. Remove that cover, you'll find a green female and male connector. They should be disconnected! Connect those together, then press the key button on the key, then disconnect again those connectors. It should work! Let me know :)
