If you want to save a couple of quid and have time, get off at East Croydon. Tap out, turn round , tap straight back in, and then carry on with your journey . There are plenty of trains during the day. I love train splitting

Thank you so much for this video. It’s detailed and straight to the point. I have previously travelled from Gatwick to London Bridge and vice versa but will be travelling myself for the first time and I’m very anxious. Will save this video for when I’m travelling.

I didn't realise that you can use your Oyster Card to travel to Gatwick. I usually fly from Stansted but, thanks to your video, will be using Thameslink when I next fly from Gatwick. Enjoy Spain👍

Me too, I'm a Stansted regular haha! Somehow people think oyster is valid to Stansted too haha

Pity that ThamesLink is now just as expensive as the Southern. Imagine the Piccadilly being as expensive from Heathrow as Elizabeth Line 🥵 (or as Heathrow Express 😱)!
@SomeoneExplores6 ай бұрын
I was actually of the understanding that Thameslink was still cheaper till I saw that sign at the airport looool
@kwlkid856 ай бұрын
The Elizabeth should be the same price as the Piccadilly. It's crazy that it's not, it's tiny speed advantage from terminals 1&2 will be gone with the opening of OOC and the new Piccadilly stock. It's slower from the other terminals because it's so infrequent, wait 30mins for a Elizabeth line train from terminal 5 or almost be in zone 1 on the Piccadilly?
@Peter-mj6lz6 ай бұрын
@@kwlkid85 I think journey time should be faster but the frequency of the Lizz Line to Heathrow, compared to Picc Line, counteracts this.
@kwlkid856 ай бұрын
@@Peter-mj6lz That was my point the Piccadilly line is so much more frequent than the Elizabeth line, especially to Terminal 5.

While coming back , Gatwick airport to London bridge, is it same way, does it stop at London bridge or any other station inside london

I really wish we had these sorts of “city centre” to terminal direct connections in NYC. We have LIRR services and subway lines that reach the air train, but nothing that connects you directly to the airport. I guess it has to do with the time in which each were built, and now public agencies competing (yes, two public agencies: MTA and Port Authority) for the customer base. It’s a sad case; everything that can advance New York City is held back by cronyism.

Actually I read that southern is cheaper.

Hi. would you know how much time before your departure do you need to be at the airport? What was your experience at Gatwick airport like? Thanks...
@SomeoneExplores3 ай бұрын
It really depends how busy it is. I went on a Sunday and got there like 90/100 minutes before my flight (was a 9am flight) and I'm quite used to the airport and i sailed through. I'd say 2 hours is a good basis, but leave some extra breathing room if you can

Great video! I'll be traveling from Gatwick Airport into London for the 1st time ever. I'm trying to figure out if I should buy tickets ahead of time online or just use my contact less credit card to board the southern or thameslink at the gates. Ultimately I'm trying to get to the Paddington area. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance:)
@SomeoneExplores5 ай бұрын
best to just use your contactless, then using the same card when you interchange in central london. the fare will calculate itself and come out your account at the end of the day!

Thameslunk from Gatwick to Farringdon (service to Bedford or Peterborough/Cambridge) then you can just change acroos platforns for a tube to Hammersmith.

Sir guide me pls. I have to go Gatwick airport. I have been told Gatwick express and Thameslink, both go to the airport from Victoria station. On which one can I use oyester card
@SomeoneExplores3 ай бұрын
Southern and the Express from Victoria, Thameslink from London Bridge. All can use Oyster card, but the express (red train) is more expensive.

Hi! Do you mind helping me about the fastest manner to arrive these airports. How to arrive to the LGW airport at 06:00 (or before) on Saturday (the flight departs at 08:00)? How to arrive to the LTN airport at 05:30 (or before) on Saturday (the flight departs at 07:30)? I don't have my Host's Address yet (please suppose I'm in some Station of Central London) Thanks in advance!

do you think 2 hours is sufficient?

@@ShaoYP you are right, What would be your recommendation?
@SomeoneExplores3 ай бұрын
Two hours is sufficient if everything thing goes right, you check in online and have no baggage. Thameslink runs throughojt the night to both airports so feel free to give yourself more time
