I'm not a medical professional, nor do I have any advanced science knowledge. I'm a big fan of your youtube channel, however, and love to learn. I watched this video with rapt attention. I have CKD 3b-4, and relatively stable. My nephrologist is super, a combination of angel and genius IMHO. I have had CKD since 2018, and have chronic anemia unresponsive to oral iron supplementation nor iron transfusions. I've had more packed red blood cell transfusions than I can count in 5 years, and realize they can be problematic when repeated too much. In October 2021, my sodium dropped from around 138 to 119. My nephrologist called me , and I had never heard her so frantic. With sodium chloride 1g b.i.d., it has improved to about 132-136. In November 2021, I had a kidney biopsy showing my kidneys were about 33% functional, and was diagnosed with glomerosclerosis likely due to a ton of NSAIDS over decades for knee surgeries, a laminectomy, and recently, a hip replacement to correct developmental R hip dysplasia that I never knew I had until I had severe pain. Returning to the chronic hyponatremia, my doctor diagnosed it as SIADH. I didn't see that as an etiology in the above lecture. I would like to learn more about CKD and NSAIDS role in the development of CKD, as well as hyponatremia, hyperkalemia, anemia, and I've watched all of your videos on these subjects. Acetominophen has little to no effect for treating my pain, unless I take it with ibuprofen, and I don't want to damage my renal function any more. I've asked my PCP, nephrologist, orthopod, etc, for a better alternative, but they say ice and Tylenol, and both have been disappointing and impractical, for example: icing both knees, lumbar spine, and hip while working is unacceptable in my field for continuous at least partial relief, and I thought: I'll ask Ninja Nerd! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the world, and bring us all more please!

I have CPM and a lesion on the.ponsfrom overcorrecting of sodium. Raised 22 points in 11 hours.I'm on a feeding tube because I aspirate. I had to learn how to walk, talk and write again. I also have parkinsonian tremors. Bulbar palsy. I can walk with a walker I just get weak so fast.i tend to stutter or say my words backwards or I don't make sense. I go to physical therapy 2xs week and speech and occupational therapy. My brain just isn't normal anymore.inhave a 8nto 10nsexond delay. I am college educated but not smart at all anymore.my arms and legs always feel like hundreds of butcher knives are in them. im Trying to think of what else. It's been so hard I am 42 with young kids. But I'm so blessed to be alive. So blessed to not have locked in syndrome.Thank you so much for this video. Is hard to find any information.

I am a survivor of CPM. Was a beer alci for 30+ years. I quit drinking for a year, then relapsed. I tried to requit, but got sick. Went to ER where a Neuro Doc raised my sodium too fast. (His words). I was in coma for a month. Asked to ''donate'' my organs. Well, I woke, could only move my eyes. Spent 8 months in rehab. Went ER Jan.28, 2017. Currently listed as; semi-paraplegic, can't speak, walk, or even breath coorrrectly. I have one hand with 2 fingers I'm able to use. My family was/is slow to get my med records and a lawyer told them they were altered, so no case. There was nothing out in 17 about CPM! Sadly it appears, not much ''good'' news still.

Hey. I’m a survivor too. I’m at least a year behind you. But still trying to figure things out. I’ve been out of the hospital almost a year, but I’m still healing. And I guess that’s positive. But a long road of recovery. Still a ways away. It’s been…it’s been something. How are you doing?

My mum had flu and fell into a DKA coma. She also has actuate renal failure. She was in a coma for 10 days. For a week she was recovering and starting to communicate. She has slipped back though and doctor says she may have Central pontine myelinolysis, even though that doesn’t show on mri. It’s NHS in Uk so the level or care is not great. Currently she’s is no longer taking and potentially delirious, just sitting up and down in bed. Do you think this could be Central pontine myelinolysis ?
