What you were digging up is indeed excellent compost for the garden that is full of micro organisms and nutrients and carbon rich material. The woody material is excellent, certain fungi like that, and plants benefit from those fungi. 👍

@@portugalitis Keep potatoes and tomatoes away from the olive trees. Because those can cause a bad fungi for the olive trees. And once the bad fungi is in the soil it can take decades before you can plant new olive trees. But beets and beans and leek and herbs and strawberries and grapes and cabbage are all good. Especially beets are very good companion plants for other plants. And beans are very good nitrogen fixing plants. And it is also good to plant some wild flower seeds when the spring arrives. The biodiversity helps to keep the plants healthy and better protected against pests. When you apply mulch or compost a smaller but thick layer is better as spreading it all out. The next year you can do another small patch with a thick layer. That is very good for the micro organisms. They like the thick blanket that protects them from the sun and drought and hot temperatures. And the micro organisms help a lot to make the existing soil aerated and fluffy without tiling the soil. It also holds moisture much better. And they create nutrients for the plants. 👍

Yes she had a lot of them when I got here .. I paid 10 pounds for her :) and we still lived in London then .. she moved 4 times in UK and now she came to Portugal she doesn't like car journeys but she done good when we travelled here :) She had two litters of kittens (and then we sterilised her) when we lived in UK she would always run from Guffy when she would go to garden and Guffy would chase her .. but here she doesn't run and he doesn't chase here:) I think she lives the best life now .. she loves the sun .. and sleeps a lot .. she eats every 2 hours LOL so can't really complain

Chicken of the woods is usually found on chestnuts, oaks and cherry trees. All common in your area. Yours is growing on a eucalyptus. Great adaptation. You are giving your lovely old cat the best life. Hope the rains this week don’t cause too much bother. Take care❤.

This mushroom best to eat when is orange colour. When it's goes yellowish it means getting old. Steel can eat but not as tender. You can put in your omelette too.

Did you know that you can take and make most if not all hens to be what is called a cluck and hatch baby chicks ?. If you put eggs under them and lock them in a nest for a day, they will claim the eggs as their own and hatch out a dozen chicks .

When I watched the first video showing the chicken mushrooms, I looked them up and noted they are edible (with some caution). I have not seen any in Canada, so cannot try them here. Love the videos of the cats having a great life climbing trees. It looks so far like your land is draining well compared to some of the video last year where the tractor was mired in mud! Hello Suz-anne !! :) We only had just few days of rain so it's only just beginning of rainy season I think ... but hopefully what we doing now (digging stream deeper) will help with drainage HOPEFULLY .. but last year it was loads of rain as well .. more that usual you just never know what happens ;) We don't want tractor to be stuck again for sure .. Your cat is in amazing shape for an 18yr old. I was driving my farm bike on my land and my chickens were doing exactly what yours were doing. by accident I ran one over! That shade curtain is attached very good so it won't fly away .. but I took it down this week as we don't need to use it as a shade anymore .. well we sort of growing them ourselves .. they using our trees ;)
