Hi! My name is Loretta, a girl from the U.S. who moved to Japan! I moved to Japan on the MEXT scholarship and recently graduated with my MBA. Here are some answers to common questions:
1. Do I Speak Japanese? Yep! I was taught formally in High School and have been speaking now for over 15 years.
2. What University did you go to in Japan? I'm a recent grad of Yokohama National University's "Masters of Business Administration" Program
3. How old are you?: Year of the dragon. :D The math is up to you.
4. How did you get into Japanese school?: tinyurl.com/yb8yylch
5. What camera equipment do you use?: I film my videos with a Canon 60D using a 30mm Sigma Art Lens and I edit with Sony Vegas Pro 10 (with some help from photoshop). Additional cameras include GoPro Hero 7 Black and DJI Majic Air

@plinkage 4 жыл бұрын
i started learning this year mostly on my own and hope to live in japan at some point in my life! im certainly not in a hurry and taking my time with japanese but ive been surprised at how far ive come with some free phone apps. i started by learning the alphabet systems with duolingo. ive also tried the lingo deer app, and bought a couple books ('remember the kanji 1' being the main one). in the end i simply was having too many questions i couldnt just google, so i ended up getting a tutor i see about twice a month. the tutor has been invaluable in just understanding context and seeing things i would have otherwise missed. also the apps "Obenkyo" and "JLPT SRS" have sooo much useful information i highly recommend checking them out. hope any of this might help you out and good luck with the journey!

Those prices are so high, but love them! Our little place out nearby Fussa is 85,000¥ a month. Looking to move a little closer or to Zushi and the max we'll pay is 12,000¥. He makes a decent monthly salary, and can easily save min 20,000¥ a month so will bump up cost for rent when I'm working again. Need a spot for a cat and a dog were going to adopt when we move as well. Would love to live closer or in central, but the cost is just wow. Like we could pay that, but the savings we would be able to put away will go down. We wanna save quickly so we can retire back in Kitakyushu.

KemushiChan ロレッタ what kind of graduate job can pay for a nearly 200,000 yen per month apartment and leave room for living expenses? I’m actually curious

@@maxgo111 You might want to watch my life update video (about two vids back). I work for a handful of companies at once as a private marketing consultant, so I basically get to build my own salary. We're also a couple, and possibly older than you're expecting. I worked for about six years before going back to grad school so I came in with experience. For more normal/single examples, my friends who work as engineers, lawyers, financiers or for foreign government offices in Japan still live very well since entry level. For a lot of them, they started at an American company with a Tokyo branch, then were paid to move over laterally. If you work back home (especially at a big firm in the states first) and then have them move you over on an expat package, you're more likely to break into higher salary levels than if you tried to build domestically in Japan.

So, question. If you want a futon do you have to install it yourself or does it just come in some apartments?

Do you have any tips on apartment hunting? I want to move to Germany with my (German) boyfriend but we're struggling to even get responses from people we've contacted. It feels really frustrating because we want to book viewings but can't yet. :(

I converted the rent prices to Euros, and my jaw just about dropped to the floor! It's about 3x-4x as expensive as my rent here in a mid-sized city in Germany for a slightly bigger apartment! Are they for real? Probably the jobs pay really good there too...

The average rent for such an apartment (2nd one) in india (in a big city like Bangalore) would be just 45,000 rupees. Which is 593 USD or 63,000 yen. I can't comprehend paying 190,000 yen for such an apartment. Insanely expensive

I suddenly feel soooooooo BLESSED to be living in one of the most beautiful countries of Europe, on a historic island, in a 150 sq. meter gorgeous apartment, HUGE balconies facing the front and back w/ beautiful views ( making the entire footage around 180 sq. meters in total ) - and paying only 300 Euro per month - and this woman is looking to pay nearly $2,000 dollars a month to live in a 42 sq. meter *claustrophobic* apartment. WOW! Thanks - but NO thanks.

I know this is quite old now, but how are you calculating rent? In Australia where I'm from rent is paid weekly, how is it paid in Japan? Love your channel btw, I've been binge watching all your stuff! :)

Actually, I'm thinking about some place in Koto ward (Kameido, Tsukishima),... or even Inage (it's not that far from Tokyo and much cheaper),... um, I don't want to be where there are tourists (^_^). Suumo website has lots of good apartment listings.
