As someone who has lived in Japan, 6 months is nothing. You would struggle to get an apartment, and basically settle into the country just to have to turn around and leave. Honestly doesn’t make much sense to me…

Truthfully... I don't want to live in Tokyo. If I want to see people like me, other Americans or other foreigners, I'd stay home.

On my tablet this video is interrupted every minute to show ad's, even in the middle of a sentence. It doesn't happen on the desktop, but it makes it unwatchable on the tablet.

@@kemushichan I wondered too. I thought it changed a setting on my tablet by accident, but I didn't. I have the problem with a video by you (haven't checked the others) and by Gimmebreakman. I'm quite positive the problem occured only recently with his video's. I closed the YT tab on my tablet and restarted it to make sure that temporary settings disappeared, but when I accessed you're and G's video's, it happened again.

Really a pity, because you're youngest video looks to be very well done. Even after only a minute I could notice that.

Didn't realize how old this video is lol, but since this video came out Genki 3rd edition is out and they simplified the English a lot it seems. Which is good! A lot of people studying Japanese in other countries have to rely on Genki despite English not being their first language as well. Most of us who want to study Japanese are already good at English but not always. I know there is a version of Genki in French though. I wouldn't say you need to be a native speaker to understand the earlier editions of Genki though lol just have a good grasp on the language which most people worldwide do.

If you are making 10 million yen per year (the equivalent in your home country) you hqve more than enough to rent an expensive place, an airbnb and live like a king. C'on is around 5k per month!!! I think is one of the most expensive nomad visas I have ever seen and is absolutely ridiculous...

Seemed like a totally pointless visa. With how Japan rentals work this is pointless. You mayaswell just get a stamp. From the UK you get 90 days on arrival and can extend 90 days. This nomad visa just adds a bunch more steps and in return... nothing.

The Tourist Visa is looking like the way to go. Finding a place to rent may take time but sounds like it’s not totally impossible. That’s something you can do well before you go to Japan. Maybe. I’d reenlist if I could stay on Base overseas. I’m too old now though 😅

i got the lifetime membership during the Rona pandemic. i use it for Japanese because for some reason i pick up on Spanish and Japanese Hella easy while other languages i struggle to learn even basic phrases. i think if you're dedicated or have an actual desire to learn it comes in handy. i learned to read and speak with it but my writing is awful. granted my English writing sucks too but still. i was able to start my Japanese journey with the app, from there you immerse yourself and start learning more nouns, verbs, and adjectives. it will not teach you fluency but it gets you to a point where you can start naturally picking up words. another valuable resource to use is google lens. it will translate anything live just by holding up a camera. this helps a ton when you find a few unknown words clustered together. you simply google the words and figure out the spelling and use the words as much as possible in sentences.

Love how you do your videos. It is such a breeze of fresh air and feels good and cozy. Glad seeing your channel gets more views and subscribers with every new video. I really need to start my Japanese learning program I constantly push forward each day and instead just playing video games. I miss Japan. Such videos really reminds me and kinda make me sad that I was born and live my 41 years so far in the wrong country. Japan was always the country my heart belonged to. I guess it is time not to postpone my goal of learning Japanese properly over and over again 😅 Hope you enjoy and cherish your life in Japan. Cheers from Vienna~

Ah, I too, went to college for knowledge and payed tens of thousands of dollars and am now on the brink of losing my mind because nobody actually explained how anything works. So, bachelor of arts, tens of thousands in debt, no job. I dug a hole for myself thinking I'd find gold, and now I'm stuck. Anyways I'm gonna go ahead and do it again because it'll defer my student loans.
