Central Vacuum Motor Replacement (Step by Step)

In this video, we are going to replace the motor in our central vacuum. The motor in our central vacuum stopped working, so I ordered a part from Amazon (see link below). It was much cheaper to order the replacement central vacuum motor and replace it myself, than to take it to a repair shop or, worst case scenario, buy a new central vacuum.

I cant believe they designed it so you cant take the Hepa filter out. I just got a Nutone 353 and i wanted to see if its worth my time to tune up. Thanks for the video, you did a great job.

That's a Kenmore built by CanaVac and uses a crappy flo thru motor. The better motor is a bypass and is serviceable. To get the best from this flo thru, use the disposable bag that is available for the CanaVAc. I've repaired these many times and offer the modification to both the better motor and the bag. Most customers go for the improvements. Remove the filter bag with a flat blade screw driver and pry the edge of the filter from the machine. It will collapse inward and come out. You should find a cloth strap on the side of the filter big enough to put your finger through to pull the filter out. You should use a bit of adhesive on the bottom of the motor to prevent it from shifting at start-up. I hope the filter was completely dry before using. Good luck...

Good idea to clean the whole thing, but I would blow it out with compressed air rather than putting water in it.
