Volta Centravac 1600W Troubleshooting

Need a new motor, apparently I can get one for under $100 according to a electric motor rebuilder

I have 2 1440W motors in my central vac, and they're both more powerful than the American 120 or 240V version of this motor. Its an extremely powerful vacuum. These central van motors are more powerful than any portable vacuum anyway.

I have a rainbow water filtration vacuum like this one that looked like that I blue out the carbon dust out side replaced the brushes and cleaned the commutator completely out and it now runs like a new motor

@ Aussie50 Find an old canister vacuum like a Hoover., my Hoover Celebrity has almost that same motor, and has hellish suction relative to it's size, enough to literally tear the wall to wall carpeting off it's tacks when set too low! I love that thing, it's like a shop vac with a bag and has no problem sucking up ANYTHING on the carpet, (even machine screws and glass shards) since the bag is in a vacuum dome chamber right off the hose and then the motor it won't be damaged, massive bags too.

I've known people which central vacuum systems, I was once stupid enough to stick my hand into an inlet and touch the prong, that started the motor. The ones I've seen don't start when you open the inlet cover, the insertion of the hose activates a prong that turns the power on. I don't know how commonplace central/ducted vacuum cleaning systems are really, I've seen at least 2 in my life, maybe more.

If you want something with power put them in parallel instead, gives you an incredible amount of airflow.

When there is a dead spot in turning. There is a short circuit in the stator. End end off line for stator.

Find a carpet machine at the scrap yard (rug doctor or the likes ). Bypass motor like that is pretty common. Nice find!

The growler, at my last works place we had one of those, dam handy peice of kit, and with thin strips of metal you could feel where the magnetic strength changes. Try chopping the secondary off a mains transformer leaving the core open, pehaps that would do as a crude growler?? Ive never heard of central vaccume systems, but i suppose if you have the wall cavity space it makes sense.

Wow, that must have had a lot of use to have the much wear on the bushes, Then again if it was arcing like that, it probably ate them up. But I still wonder if it would run smoother if the new brushes were fitted to the commutator a bit better. Does it pull a lot more current than it should be?

Twin motor drive sounds good. Two 120vac identical motors in series.... Then you can really tell them your vacuum sucks! But how many messiah appointed carbon credits do you lose having two motors when government mandated vacs have just one motor?..... Even though your house is 4 times cleaner?
