Finally someone explains the differences between obstructive vs central sleep apnea. Overlapping symptoms but different amelioration tactics. Peeing all night? Do a sleep study. Weight loss is likely to help both, reduced systemic stress. Cpap might not be an optimal intervention.

@@literatious308 I am not surprised at melatonin did not help. Obstructive sleep apnea, as the name implies, is due to obstruction of the airway. Melatonin addresses neurochemical pathways in the brain and has no effect on the actual anatomy of the throat.

I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, had bariatric surgery even though I was only 15 to 20 kg overweight and unfortunately, after surgery my sleep apnoea numbers ended up higher. Finally diagnosed correctly with Central Sleep Apnoea. So in my case, weight loss definitely didn't help.

Can sleep apnea be diagnosed in on night ? Because I had a bad experience with creaming at night and when I went for sleep study 2 years ago they didn’t find nothing but now I’m still keep waking up frequently for no reason is that Colten sleep apnea or just some sleep disorder?

I'm no sleep expert, but I can say with my Central Sleep Apnea, I don't actually wake to full consciousness like you've described, at all. I wake up thinking i've had a full, uninterrupted night's sleep....until the tiredness kicks in about 10 minutes later and I fall asleep in my cereal. I'm thinking you may have an anxiety/PTSD type of situation happening. The sleep study will still capture it all and is definitely worth having done, as the sleep physician who monitors you is an expert and can explain what might be happening to you. And yes, one night is enough for a diagnosis.

My younger brother is having post Covid issues .Doctors here are saying its because of anxiety and panic attacks. It started with heart Palpitations and then sudden BP fluctuations. Intermittent dizziness, little chest pain and now since last week he is experiencing sudden jerks as he tries to sleep and oxygen saturation goes to 91-92 for that very short duration. Is it sleep apnea(central or obstructive)? He is 27 and no snoring issues weight 50 height 5' 4"

HELP! I researched CSA several years ago as I had a few bouts of it. It stopped when I stopped Remeron. Had a night of it when given an opiate for pain. Used to take Tylenol with codeine for pain but quit six years ago when I read opiates can cause it. Had a few nights of it last fall while getting over some sort of lung infection. Started dry coughing again in February, still dry coughing but now, had four nights of really bad CSA. The kind when you never fall asleep. The second I start dosing off, I stop breathing...it happens every 30 seconds or so. My heart was checked in Dec, for COPD. NO OPIATES OR BENZOS FOR years. I think my brain is damaged because I'm in extreme protracted damage from Ativan...its not withdrawal, it's nerve damage. A sleep test years ago gave no conclusion as I didn't sleep all night. Scheduled for another one but if I don't have it that night its useless. I know I have it...seems to idiopathic...several physiotherapists have told me my diaphragm is locked. I was told to practise deep breathing, which i have for five years. Why does this have to happen during the lockdown. I cant go to my doctor, cant go to ER, can't take any more of this. Ive got narcolepsy typing this but still can sleep more than a few seconds since i stop breathing. Even awake, i find myself taking big sudden breathes because im not breathing mormally ! Help!

@@abhishekab1 Well to be fair, your doctor can't diagnose anything by looking at you. A sleep study is the ONLY way to investigate whatever is going on. I doubt it's a case of your doctor "not believing" you.

yeah this is wrong, nasal obstruction plays a MASSIVE, MASSSIVE, MASSSSSSSIIIVVVE role in OSA. It literally collapses the airway from negative pressure
