I love this so much. I’m at UNT and we played an excerpt of this for our halftime show in 2022, and abroad in Ireland. So much love for the composer❤

Me ha sorprendido esta metamorphosis sobre un tema de Txaikovski muy positivamente. Al final de la obra senti un gran enthusiasm. El sonido del soplo en botellas con agua fantastica idea musical.

For people who don't know, composers are being referencing other composers since a lot time ago. It's a composition form called "quote". It's not bad at all.

you think using other music is new? I can find examples at least as far back as Bach. www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=11&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj3vtKonsPpAhUGHs0KHabpAawQFjAKegQIBBAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FKeyboard_concertos_by_Johann_Sebastian_Bach&usg=AOvVaw1fZ3N_mFfyD_RGyd-ue5L7

too much mistakes for winning a contest
@Reezonneable9 жыл бұрын
+Mistermathew999 How credible is your criticism when you make such an obvious grammatical error in your very statement? "Too much mistakes..." is illiterate. "Too many mistakes..." would be an accurate use of the English language, but would still bespeak a personality that is likely to be excessively critical and maybe more than just a little arrogant. Sorry. You might be a happier person if you worked a bit harder at focusing on the good and forgave whatever shortcomings you believe come to your attention. May you experience a good life.

Reezonneable so as you say, if im not a C2, proficiency lvl of english i cant comment.
@Reezonneable9 жыл бұрын
+Mistermathew999, you may comment all you care to--I am not the gatekeeper here. I am simply saying that even if your usage of English were proper (which it is not), you present yourself as very critical (I used the word "excessively," which may have offended you, for which I apologize.) I found the performance very satisfying, with the number of "mistakes" well below the threshold that would render the performance unsatisfactory. I invite you to tell us which mistakes you heard that prevented it from meeting your standards. Have a good day.

Reezonneable From 0:00 to 1:38 secondary voices are over the "solo" one in several moments, when the english horn must be over all. Those loud moments around the minute number 2 are out of sync as a group and all the notes are equally important, and i hear louder the 1st 3rd and 5th, instead of the 6 notes. 3:20 out of sync as a group 3:40 - 3:46 out of sync 3:49 completely, and i repeat, completely out of sync 3:56 - 4:26 extremely slow 5:55 the solo voice must be over the orchesta since it starts, not 3 beats later 6:20 changed tempo when it must be same as before 6:48 aprox, trumpets too soft, and 6:50 a bit slow from the conductor, but not really important 7:10 aprox, woodwinds take the lead, and i can only hear a trumpet up and down 8:00 cant hear melody at all until 8:20 from 8:20 to 8:35 is absolutely perfect 8:46 too fast 10:20 - 10:35 aprox marimba plays what it wants. Also out of sync when it stops and come again with bottles. Mistakes that marimba can make in the solo is just its responsibility, not the group. Xylo almost perfect though. 12:31 there is a melody i cannot hear from here to 14:50 is way too hard even for me o recognize what is well and what is wrong but it seems very well played, though when reach 14:50 out of sync and it is a bit slower than we can hear 14:57 horns out of sync last chord is fantastic though this was very general, i wasnt there to hear the tuning though but it doesnt seem wrong

+Mistermathew999. Thank you. I have not gone back and listened to this work with your posting as a guide, but perhaps I'll do that some day when the demands driving my own life allow it. Clearly, you bring a different standard for precision to your listening than I do. I have the luxury of being a rank amateur horn player (some days more "rank" than others ☺ ), so I can appreciate the work of others without demanding that they hold themselves to a very difficult, or impossible to attain standard. We need people, perhaps like yourself, who hold us to very high standards--it is what stimulates us to do better. We each are multi-faceted human beings with many interests and things which vie for our attention. We each are trying to open ourselves to become the highest, most-complete souls possible. In that spirit I find it easy to forgive imperfection and to encourage and strengthen what is good rather than focus on what might not fully measure up to my preconceptions of how things should be. The great thing about being human is that we each get to choose where on this continuum of interpersonal interaction that we care to be! I just finished listening to Mahler's Third, or rather a documentary on it...(don't have the link available...search "What the universe tells me" here on KZbin) so I am freshly mellowed out and open to the higher parts of my spirit. Are you a (professional) music judge? I am a retired computer engineer. Best of luck and good wishes for a continued happy and productive life!
