Much like Kobus replaced a couple worn out unsealed bearings and had the same issue with the clutch. Your video showed me exactly what I needed to know to fix things. Thank you.

04 -11-2021 I replaced the two noisy unsealed worn out deep groove bearings on my WORKING 240 Volt old cast iron bench grinder with two new sealed bearings (6203-C-2HRS-C3) and at the startup after reassembly, the 120 Volt AC 100 microFarad starting capacitor cooked. After opening the bench grinder again, I found the centrifugal clutch mechanism (that must release the metal plate with the contact points, must have moved with the first disassembly because I didn't use a puller!) didn't switch off the capacitor as well as the starting winding. Greetings from South Africa.

Jareth - I liked this video - surprised so many people were so butt-hurt by the music - then angry about it! LOL - I can't say I disagree with them - but I simply muted it. Figured out what you were doing from watching and now have a lead to work with on my grinder! thank you. I do agree that you talking through what you are doing would add a lot of valuable insight as well! anyway - thanks for the video - much appreciated.

I would not recommend banging directly on the end of that shaft. You can bang up the threads. Try putting some nuts on the threads and then bang on the nuts.

Nice step by step video but the annoying music is not necessary and I think you should add commentary as some people don't fully understand some concepts. I think this is why mine won't start. Thanks.

It may sound cheap, but I'd like to repair my centrifugal switch, because it's not available in SA, and if you find it, it's more than what the bench grinder is worth, I have a few valuable parts and need an exploded view of the switch.

So, as I understand it, the centrifugal switch needs to be slid on the shaft so the contacts are closed. Tighten down the screw to keep the switch in this position and then the speed of the motor turning will disconnect the start up windings. Is this correct?
@JarethCrowell5 жыл бұрын
Robert Manning yes that’s correct

Jareth Crowell And I also need to “play with” the centrifugal switch to see that the contacts will “open” (breaking contact at the switch contact pads) to disengage the motors start up system. Also correct?

Why oh why do people think goofy backround music is mandatory in a tutorial video, were here for helpful information not weak entertainment. I learn much more if the problem, troubleshooting and repair are being described than no info and fruity music - sorry I came here to learn, what a waste.

Not much of a visual learner I guess. You can feel free to mute the audio and play whatever you like. ;)
